Gianna's Christening

Original post by bearsbabe_113

Yet again Mother Nature and I didn't get along when it came to me having a party!! I was flipping out on Saturday (this after taking over 2 hours to get home on Friday night and standing outside freezing my a$$ waiting for the bus for over an hour Oh and I have a flat tire, which is imbedded in the friggin ice still!!! ) because it just kept coming down and the phone calls started coming in with the cancellations. It got to the point, every time the phone rang Joe and I said 'who's not coming now' !! So I had 14 cancellations and the guy at the restaurant was really nice and made us only pay for 5 (and we got to take home the dinners so no cooking last night and none tonight either YIPPEEE ).

I wasn't in yesterday (called in sick, shh) and spent the day with my beautiful baby cub!! She was such a good girl in church and didn't utter a peep when the priest poured the oil on her head! She wasn't a happy camper getting dressed though and was screaming bloody murder, but I think because there were too many people in her face. She even slept most of the party (even though my MIL kept going over and tried to wake her up).

And speaking of my MIL -- I love her to death but since this baby has been born she's become the obsessed grandmother from hell! And she was all DECKED OUT on Sunday and I had a fit and she had to go change because she was more dressed then me and that's not fair. She knew I wasn't happy with my outfit and she wanted to change into her original outfit so bad she asked me after the church if I was changing again??!!!!! She's very good to me and everything, but she has become a friggin nut when it comes to this baby. It's ridiculous!!! She's so neurotic, it's not funny and I don't know if it's my hormones or what, but I have no patience for her lately and it's terrible.

The dinner party was fantastic, the food was absolutely delicious and everyone said they had a great time. Joe made a wonderful speech that made me cry! And the little Bear Cub looked like the beautiful princess that she is!!!!

Here's a picture my sister took, but I think it's too dark and I have no clue how to turn it the right way!!!!!!

I was thinking of you all weekend. Im so glad your party went well. You are going to have SO MANY stories to tell this little girl (did you THINK the Christening would be something that you WONT have a story for ? )

Im glad you took the day off yesterday, WELL DESERVED!

How sweet that Joe said a speech !!!! See how they become mushes when they become daddies???

Oh Deb ... I was thinking about you. Not bad ... not as many cancellations. Now if it was on Saturday. Actually Rob knew someone who got married on Saturday ... in that blizzard ... so thank goodness that her party wasn't then.

She looks so beautiful and precious! A perfect little princess. I can't wait to meet her.

Anyway ... I knew that she would have a great party either way. And I'm sure you looked beautiful. And I hate to admit this ... but you know what they say about Italian mother-in-laws!!! I wouldn't know but I guess I will be one one day!

Re: Gianna's Christening

Aw, thank you all SO MUCH!!!!! I am so glad that the day turned out ok because I was freaking on Saturday worrying about whether my sister, who is the Godmother, and my MIL would both make it since one lives in Jersey and the other in the Poconos!!!! They both didn't know until Sunday morning whether they could get here! Can you imagine? 'Um Gianna, your godmother and grandmother were no-shows due to the blizzard that happened' !!

The stories I have for this little cub just keep adding up, I tell ya!!! I'm sure I'll have a couple of others before she's 1!!!!

Cira, my MIL wasn't bad until the baby was born!! She's become a grandmother obsessed, I'm telling ya!!!

Anna, the speech went something like this 'I can't tell you all how much I love my wife and my daughter right now' and of course I was shocked and teary-eyed!!! (I think because we had a stupid fight on Saturday over stupidity and he felt bad!!! )

OMG

She is so beautiful

I'm glad everything turned out OK. I figured that when you didn't post yesterday that you had taken a much needed mental health day I love that gown it is gorgeous. Where did you get it? I have to get Damien's christening outfit.

Oh she just looks so beautiful!!!!!!! I'm glad the day was wonderful despite the weather, and that not many people canceled.

Your MIL is a piece of work. Excited is great, but boy is she taking it to the extreme!

Re: Gianna's Christening

Thanks Stacey!!! Hey, what happened to your picture of that little man, Damien???

I got her dress at this Italian boutique in Ridgewood (Queens) called R&M. They have some really beautiful things in there -- for girls and boys! Their christening selection is amazing. My big concern was that the dress fit her because stupid me, never bothered to try it on her and I told JennRenee last week that the icing on the cake regarding this christening would be that the dress didn't fit!! Can you imagine? That would be typical to only happen to me though!!

When are you baptizing Damien? I can't tell you what a relief it is for it to be over between worrying about driving around w/her w/o being baptized (my Irish mother getting me all wigged out over it) and trying to plan the party while I was here -- it was giving me waaaayyy too much agita!!!

Now on to the ever-agonizing stress of Christmas shopping and everything else that entails!!! There is definitely not enough hours in the day, nor days in the week, once you go back to work!!!

Jen, I most have posted when you did -- yup, she's off the hook!!! She's beyond obsessed!

I know she only has one child and that this is her first grandchild, but you would think this baby is the second coming since Christ with the way she's acting!!!! And it's not that I don't appreciate things she does, I do, it's just that she's a bit much. (Before I start getting flamed from here to LI and back!)

Re: Gianna's Christening

His christening will be on the 25th of January. I wanted the 11th but my hubby had to have the Sunday between the playoffs and the Stupidbowl It actually gives me more time to adjust to being back at work. What do you mean where did his pic go

Thanks Sassy!!! Yup, it was pretty sweet!!

Stacey, in that thing under your name -- what's it called, avitar or whatever -- it doesn't have Damien's picture anymore -- you have that kid from that Christmas movie. (Can you tell that all my brain cells are dead? I can't even speak English anymore! )

So glad to hear everything went well, Debbie. (with the exception of *the* MIL)

She is absolutely gorgeous. You think it's too soon to give her Sean's number?
