Gift cards... Always give people a receipt with it!

So I bought my brother a $50 gift card to Houston's as his groomsman gift because FH was getting the guys beer glasses and he doesn't drink. Plus he is married and I know it would be nice to do something for him and his wife too since she helped him get his tux and all that. They also don't get to dine out much w/the baby, etc. whatever...

SOOOOOO....
He goes to Houston's the other night with his wife (my mom watched the baby) and they told him the card was ZERO! Thank GOD I included the receipt with it, the dumb a s s chick who rang it up did it incorrectly. I am embarrassed that he had to deal with that . I called them and they were not even really apologetic about it.

I called the headquarters and they are looking into it. Like who would think to include the receipt with a gift card.

Ladies, be warned, I know some of you give gift cards as parent gifts, etc. Always have a receipt with it. I learned my lesson!!

That does suck, but that happened years ago to some other people. There was a big thing going around where the gift cards were coming up with a zero balance. Ever since then I ALWAYS include my receipt with the GC. :( Sorry you had to go through that. AT least they fixed it and you didn't have to go kick someone's @$$

OMG! I remember that. I think they were stealing the codes or something? Like the employees maybe?

That happened to me once. I bought a Stop n Shop gift card for someone and it came up with a zero balance...it was happening a lot at BBB a while ago and it was the employees that were doing it...they would swipe a different card than the one you were buying I always give receipts now too And I check the number on the card against the receipt now also....

That happened to me at Love my shoes. My friend gave me a gift card for my bday so i go and the card says zero, they had to look up the reciept from the previous days accounts to see that the cashier didnt know what she was doing. Yes i agree always include the receipt.
