gift (edited with a detail that I left out...)

gift (edited with a detail that I left out...)

I'm being vague because I'm afraid that a lurker may see this...

I was just told that I needed to supply some items for a shower. I replied by saying that I didn't want to because my wedding was never acknowledged and I was very hurt by it. I also said that I am really not the type of person to ignore someone's special events, but I was very hurt by my special event being ignored.

SO, the person responded by saying, 'didn't you get our gift?' the person then went on to say that an item was purchased by someone else on behalf of the 2 of them and that it was shipped to my house. she then said that she gave the other person a check for her half of the cost, but had noticed that it was never cashed.

So, now I feel stupid...but, I still feel like it was wrong for people to demand that I help with someone's shower, when this group never acknowledged my wedding...

edited to add: the person whose shower they want me to help with is the person who supposedly purchased my wedding gift...

I would not belive this person at all. dont feel bad about feeling the way you do. You are totally right. that is such a bull *h*t excuse if you ask me.

Re: gift

Something sounds odd...do you know who the other person is that they split the gift with?

Re: gift

wouldnt you wanna be the bigger person? You can't get mad at how someone treated you or how they acted if you do the same thing in return. Hurt feelings are one thing, but doing the same thing makes you no better. Thats just my opinion, and its what I try to do when people hurt me, the anger takes on a life of its own and the situation stays the same, so I try very hard to let it go.

Re: gift

That sounds sketchy to me, and a convenient way to make you feel guilty.

i know it might sound petty, but if you didn't actually get the gift, the next thing i would do is check out the story from the people who apparently split the gift with the person in question. and then i would call the person out!! i mean, one thing is to ignore your wedding, but then to LIE about it is SO disrespectful and idiotic!!!!

ok, i'll get off my soapbox now.

Re: gift

You should definately check it out with the other person. She might be wondering where her 'thank you' card is
