When going to an out-of-town wedding are you supposed to take the cost plane fare and hotel room into account when giving a gift. I didn't think so, because it is your choice to travel, but one of my friends said that people do. Any thoughts?

I personally don't usually take it into consideration (as you said, its the guest choice to go), but many people do.

Depends on what you are spending...we took it into consideration for a wedding we had to fly 3 people to AND pay for a tux. That we definitely took the cost to be there into consideration...if we'd been regular guests, no...'cause we would've spent far less getting there.
