Is anyone giving their priest a gift besides the $$ the church requires? The priest who's marrying my daughter & future son in law loves a certain football team. She's thinking of getting him something with that teams name. She saw a snack bowl that looks like a helmet. He loves to eat and she's wondering if something like that would be good?

Re: gift for priest?
I think it is a cute idea to give him a gift. If you know he k=loves that team, then that would be very thoughtful, in addition to $

I think it is a nice gesture especially if he is friendly with the family

Sounds like a great gift for him. We gave our priest a G.C. to a clothing store we knew he loved.

Re: gift for priest?
We gave our priest some cash to do whatever he wanted to do with it. He's very close to the family so we figured if he wanted to keep it he could or donate it to his church.

Re: gift for priest?
A gift to the priest would be nice. A lot of people think that what you pay the church goes to the priests. This is usually NOT the case. Parish priests are usually paid a salary, what the church charges is what you consider overhead (lighting, heating/air conditioning, cleaning up before and after the ceremony, etc) so priests usually do not see any of the money.

we are getting our priest something but then again he is a friend of the family and not charging for the wedding.
