I keep throwing this out....
We got my MIL and mom a pandora bracelet...the charms we chose were my birthstone, my DH's birthstone, and the 'mom' charm. For my MIL, we added in my SIL's birthstone. This way, when we have kids, we can give them the grandkids birthstone charm too! Both LOVED it...

This might not be what route you want to go but I just ordered a nice framed print for our godson.
It's a simulation of the night sky - stars and moon for any date you choose. The size is pretty good but it's a nice think to hang in your home.
The website is indigonight.com - I ordered one for the same day our godson was born.
You could also order a channa plaque with a saying for Moms.
