you mean to give them the same amount as they gave you? Thats perfectly fine, dont see why it would be wrong to do that. Just remember the couple gave you the same amount so they obviously feel its a good amount to give for a wedding, so they shouldn't have a problem with what you give.

i think this is a toughie. you don't want to offend someone by giving less, or for them to feel awkward if you give them more...
but in some situations there are just people that can't afford a lot and give you what they can afford, and you want to give them more if you can afford it.
we had a person give us $100 for two people in our group of friends. when it comes to their wedding, do we give them $100? because usually we give each other 300. the whole situation is awkward!
