FH and I are starting to receive some gifts for the wedding. I've read that you are supposed to send thank yous as you receive gifts but I want to enclose pictures from the wedding in our thank you cards - can I wait until September or Oct to send thank yous for gifts I'm getting now?
Also, we've decided to wait to use any gifts until after the wedding. Did anyone use gifts before or is that bad luck/etiquette?

If they are checks-cash them-this can screw up someones account....then send out a generic thank you NOW and when you get your picture TYs send them one of those too. If cash or an item from your registry still send a generic TY-this way they know you received it.
We used some of the stuff we received at my shower before the wedding-no bad luck here

Thanks - I figured to cash the checks now, but I'm wondering more for the registry gifts - we're getting some from people who aren't able to come to the wedding and even some from people who will be there - I guess they dont want to deal with bringing the gift to the RH which makes sense.

I received gifts from people AND then a gift at the wedding....it makes life easier if they really want to be generous. For those that didnt attend they mailed the gifts

I received some gifts before the wedding, both monetary and off of my registry. I sent a TY card right away to acknowledge the gift and then after the wedding, some received another TY card with a photo.

I just want to thank you for this post, I was wondering the exact same thing!!! I'm going to send generic thank yous this week and another when we get our photo thanks yous after the wedding...like the brides in this post stated
