So we have 5 couples that have not given us anything for our wedding but attended
we just send a thank you for attending, right?

I would just not to start anything, but I really don't understand how people do that.

Re: Gifts
Maybe they forgot to put the card in the birdcage? One of them I can see doing that, she is a total scatterbrain

I really don't get it, either. Maybe some people genuinely do forget, but as for the rest...come on! So tacky. I would write something simple like, 'Thanks for sharing our special day with us.'

Re: Gifts
That's so rude!! Unless they have said something about their situation or whatever...
You should write 'thank you for your generous gift' then cross out the last part and add 'for attending'

I've been thinking about this same thing, but haven't come up with a good solution yet...

Re: Gifts
I would call them and tell them to 'cancel their check' because you noticed a few cards missing and think they might have been stolen!!

That's so nervy! Please say it wasn't family, at least... Sidenote, FH forgot to put the envelope in at a wedding and he told the groom immediately. Every time he saw the kid, he kept forgetting to give a new check! I wanted to kill him! He finally did though the couple wasn't mad at all. I guess if we hadn't said anything, it would be a different story

Re: Gifts
No, our missing gifts are:
My former boss and his wife. They gave a very nice Shower gift and I know they sent my former co-worker a gift after the wedding, so maybe?
Four of my friends. All from OOT....1 from DC, 1 from Connecticut, 1 from Minnesota, 1 from San Francisco
Two of DH's friends, one from Pennsylvania, one from Baltimore
MIL said she got two envelopes for us in the mail, so she is going to send them

Re: Gifts
ahh... People from out of town sometimes don't gift, because travel is expensive.
Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way, but I wouldn't expect gifts from people coming very far from out of town. Unless I went to their weddings and paid for travel and gave them gifts.
But i haven't been to many weddings...

Even when I travel, I never show up empty handed! But we didn't even get a card

I have a coworker from the south, and she said it is customary to send a gift after the wedding...usually within two months. I think that's crazy but just sayin

Re: Gifts
i have a friend that is notorious for bringing random guys to weddings and not giving a gift. my married friends did send her a thank you card and now it's just an ongoing joke that I'm going to join the no gift/random guy in pictures club. Maybe start sending out the thank you's for everyone that gave a gift and wait a little longer for the ones that haven't since they may still be planning to send (i hope).
