I know that we have to get gifts for the BM's and the GM, and the person that is doing a reading. But what about our parents, is getting them a gift necessary? My FH and I are clueless on this?

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
We gave our parents beautiful picture frames that we had engraved for them.

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
I think that it depends on your tradition/culture and if they are paying for you wedding. In both of our cultural backgrounds (British-Venezuelan) we don't give gift to our parents, is the other way around we get the gifts. But here many people do so, IMO it is not necessary, I would give my Mom or Dad a hanky and of course the bunch of pictures with frames after the wedding.
good luck,
Elena

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
We gave all of the wedding party gifts and the readers gifts at the rehersal dinner. For the parents, I would say it has to do with how involved they are in the wedding. My MIL did nothing to help at all, not even asking how the planning was , ever so it was hard to give her a gift. My parents were there to help for everything. On a happier note, my MIL has come around alot since the wedding.

Exactly what Wacky said. It is what you feel comfortable with.

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
We gave our parents hankies w/poems I wrote/borrowed. And we gave them framed e-portraits. Our engagement was so short so the pics were just done. None of our parents(My mom, his mom and my dad & stepmom)need or want anything & they didn't plan the wedding. To be honest we spent way more on our BP gifts. Our parents were so glad we were getting married, they didn't want anything-plus we got them parent albums from our photographer. Do what makes sense to you guys

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
We gave small gifts to our parents, regardless of whether they contributed to the weddng at all. I thought it'd be rude if everyone else opened something except for them. So we gave them personalized hankies - I guess that's a popular gift for parents! They seemed happy with them, and it wasn't too expensive....

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
We are giving our parents wedding hankies. We are paying for the wedding ourselves. FH parents told him they would help but we don't know to what extent that means. My mom & stepfather are paying for our honeymoon as a wedding gift. Wanted to get them something extra.

Re: Gifts at the Rehersal Dinner.
we're not going crazy with gifts for our parents. I am getting my dad a picture frame and one side will be a picture of him holding me as a baby and the other side will have a note that will read reserved for picture of dad holding his daughter on her wedding day. I'll have the dates engraved on the frame.
For my mom I'll probably treat her to a day of mom and daughter day at a spa.
