Gifts for BM at the shower

Does the bride (or the host of the shower) have to give the BM a gift at the shower in addition to their gifts that the received at the RD?

I ask because one of my BM's sister got married last year and her mom gave all the bridesmaids gifts at the shower, along with Bridesmaid tanks and such. Just curious...

What my best friend did instead was this: she took a picture with all of the girls and gave it to us framed, with a nice long card about how much she appreciated the party and so on. She gave it to us a couple of weeks later.

I thought it was really sweet!

when i was a bridesmaid in a friends wedding her mom gave all of us a dooney & bourke make-up bags. & my friend had a tote bag for us too.

the tote bag was somewhat useful since she lived in Brooklyn & her wedding was in LI. we where able to keep a change of clothes, flip flops, make-up, etc in the bag. however its shoved in the bottom of my closet currently.

i know my mom will be giving something to the bridesmaids that day. not sure what though.

edit to add: for my friends shower all the bridesmaid helped to set up stuff prior to the shower so i appreciated the little thank you gift. but to be perfectly honest i am not sure why my mom is giving something additional. unless the girls helped her out in some way.

i dont think you have to nor is it expected... you can if you want though

I don't know what to do now.. I don't even know what to get them for their reg gift.. I don't want to get them knick knacky crap sooo i need some good suggestions.
