I was wondering if you could all tell me what kinds of gifts you plan on giving to people who pasrt of the special day but not in the bridal party. I am specifically thinking of my readers, my bubble/church pew bows person and believe it or not my in-laws. My FI has not given me any input for his parents and I don't really get along with his mom so it's kinda hard. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Gifts for other people not in the bridal party
For my in-laws I am giving them an 8' x 10' picture of us in a frame which I'm having made. On one side is the picture & the other side will have our invitation imprinted (all in silver). For my aunt (who is ill & not in the bridal party) I am having her wear a corsage and I may give her something engraved, like something from things remembered.

Re: Gifts for other people not in the bridal party
I don't have any pics to post but we got our readers Lenox bud vases. They were on sale at the Lenox outlet in Tanger for $14. I also saw them in Century 21 in Westbury for the same price. My FBIL's girlfriend is going to hand out the programs at church so I think I am just going to get her a gift certificate for a manicure/pedicure at the place she gets her nails done. We got our parents 5x7 Lenox picture frames in the same pattern as our china (opal innocence). We wanted to get the 8x10 b/c as part of our photography package, both parents get an 8x10 of us, but the 8x10 frame in our pattern is gigantic. I honestly don't know where they would even put it & I know my mom will want to hang it with my sister's & this thing is so heavy, it can't be hung (LOL!)

Thanks everyone. All the ideas are great. I really like the idea of the frame with the invitation in it as well. I think I might go for that myself.

Re: Gifts for other people not in the bridal party
For one of my readers I made a spa kit, I bought a lavender spa set from drugstore.com, then got slippers and a basket and a manicure gift certificate.
For my other reader I got stuff from Williams Sonoma and put it all in a basket (oil, marinade, tea, cookies, etc).
For my FH's father and stepmother we got a frame and put a poem in it and told them we'll get them an enlargement from the photographer, and candles and a basket.
For my Mom I got a quilt with our pictures on it.
For my parents and FH's mom and stepdad we got them parent albums and a limo for the wedding day. We did more for them b/c they helped us with the wedding.

Re: Gifts for other people not in the bridal party
I didn't even thing of the in-laws, but they are covered since we will be giving them a parent's albulm - of course not right away but they will be getting that. They are not paying a dime for the wedding as far as I know so I don't see a reason for getting them more than that. I love my FFIL but never met the FMIL (step mom actually), I don't think FH really cares for her all that much (long story) and she might not even fly over for wedding so I'm not concerned about gifts for her at all. For my dad, I have to think about it - he doens't have hobbies really and he's got bad legs so he doesn't do alot of walking around anymore and so hard to buy things for him so I might get him a really nice watch or something like that. And he's getting a parent's albulm too.
For my aunt who is going to bring up communion I was thinkign just a corsage - and same for the readers although for my friend i might give her something else too on the sly. The other reader is FH's aunt and she's from another country and I don't think she would expect a gift (FH said 'gifts for the readers? are you nuts? ha ha) but I know my friend and I have a feeling she might expect more than a corsage.
For ushers, I dunno FH has to figure that one out.

I got my cousins who handed out programs different scents from the gap...in a little package...
for DH's aunt and uncle (who had our RD) we gave them a picture frame (and eventually a picture of us the them at the wedding) and a nice bottle of scotch for his uncle
