Re: Gifts for parents
you can give them a gift whenever you likem it does not have to be at the rehearsal dinner. I think a public thank you is the most important thing...
We are getting them gift certificates for a Romantic Weekend away.

Re: Gifts for parents
We gave each set of parents a $100 gift certificate to their favorite restaurant and for my mom, I gave her a cute little picture in a frame of her and I and I gave my dad a picture of him and I when I was a baby in a Daddys little girl frame. Plus we got all the parents their albums after the wedding as well.

Re: Gifts for parents
you do not HAVE to get your parents a gift. my friend didnt , but we are going to because it's just something we want to do. one reason for giving a parent gift is to thank them for paying for the wedding etc. i dont know what your case is but we are paying for most everything ourselves with some help from the parents. our thank you is really for all their love and support. you dont have to get carried away and spend a lot of money. i think we are going to get the dads a keepsake/jewelry box engraved and the moms pearl bracelets from bluenile.com that have a silver engravable heart tag. a lot of people do picture frames, so that would be fine too. i didnt want to do that only because we gave them frames with our engagement pic in it so i wanted to do something different. we are also giving them parent albums that wont come in obviously til after the wedding...sorry that turned out to be so long!

We got both parents a double frame from Lenox. I still have to order the 5x7s for them.

Re: Gifts for parents
I got both mom's a custom frame from oneheartstudio.com with a personalized inscription and inside will be a photo of us as little kids with our mom. (If FSIL ever sends me the photo for FMIL frame ;) )
I don't have a Dad. And I'm not sure what to get for FH's dad yet. I have the hardest time with gifts for men. I still have a jrGM, GM and RB to buy for.

Re: Gifts for parents
I made photobooks on Shutterfly for each of our parents. The books had pics of me or DH with that parent from birth to present and then I included a parent poem on the first page. All parents cried, they loved them and they were fun and inexpensive to make. I also bought them the embroidered hankies.
