Gifts for Parents?

Gifts for Parents?

At my rehearsal dinner, I plan on giving my parents and FILs gifts. I want them to be something that is meaningful and touching. All I can think of so far is a nice frame to later put a family portrait in from the wedding. I want to do something more personal than that though.

Does anyone have any other ideas? Or has anyone done this with a good response?

Thanks!

What about those frames with the names engraved and have the meaning of family on them!

Re: Gifts for Parents?

We have already purchased our parent gifts. We brought each parent a hankerchief (ex. MOB, MOG, etc.). Each comes with a poem attached on a card and on each hankerchief there is a symbol. On the mother ones there are is a crystal heart attached to the hankerchief and on the father ones there is a guardian angel pin attached to the hankerchief. I am also buying my father a special frame. It is book type frame and on one side is a poem and on the other side I am putting a picture of him and I when I was young in there until I can give him a picture of him and I on my wedding day.

both moms got earrings to wear the day of the wedding that matched their dresses (his mom - black pearls, my mom - diamond huggies). Dad's each got cufflinks. I also made my mom a handkerchief (from linen, lace and ribbon), and Al did a charcoal sketch of his parents wedding picture.

We also got them parents albums and 8x10's for both sets of parents, but obviously those weren't available at the rehersal dinner.

Wow, Lisa - a charcoal sketch! I wish I had a talent like that.

Hi,
Thought I'd butt in with a really cool idea. I had gotten my parents and FIL's a 'still-picture video'. For my parents it was approx. 20-30 pics of me growing up with family and then with my FH up until engagement. For my FIL, it was of him and his family and then with me. Its a company called 'Pictures in Motion'. Its about a 10 minute video to your favorite song(s) or your Wedding song. And at the end of the video you can write a little saying to your parents. We played it at the rehearsal dinner. Everyone was in tears.(us included)Its very personal and very, very sentimental. Both our parents cried for days. If interested I'll be glad to give you the number. I dont think too many people have heard of this yet.

Good luck!!!

balilove-my mother said the same thing! She asked why we would buy them something. She didn't get it. I told her we wanted to thank her and my father for all they have done for us. She told me that it was unnecessary and she knows we appreciate it. We are giving each set of parents a parent album (though the photographer's package) and I want to get them wedding hankie (b/c I know my mom--the tears of joy will be flowin' like a river that day!)

So far I got hankies for MOG & FOG, FOB, MOH but still have to get for MOB & stepMOB.

My Mom & stepfather are paying for our honeymoon as a wedding gift so I want to get them something nice. They are wine drinkers so thought of Wine of the month gift. Not sure how to get that. Now have to think of something for FIL's. Not sure if I will get anything else for my dad & stepmother. Maybe a GC to dinner somewhere.

Edited to say: his parents said they would help but I don't know to what extent although they have always been very generous. Otherwise we are paying for the wedding ourselves.

All parents will get either albums or framed wedding pics also.
