we did bottles of their favorite (high end) alcohol, a pair of crystal rocks glasses, and the ties they wore the day of (which I've seen each of the 8 guys wear again at another event)

HE is the hard one to sell though-- again, men stink!

We went with personalized pub signs. I had 5 groomsmen and got 2 poker ones, 1 accountant one, and 2 irish ones, all with their names. I think everyone liked them. We got them at http://www.pubsignstore.com.

Hey I am getting married 11/1 also. I just checked-out your page and we are using Silverfox that day as well. Who are you booked with? My dress is also Private Label! Great minds!

These are some great ideas.
We are having issues deciding because they are all different and two are under the age of 17!

Steve here...my take is if you are going to have time to get each groomsmen aside in the days leading up to the wedding, try to get them something more personalized. Its very impersonal to get the same thing that 5 other people received and in my opinion its shows a lack of effort unless it is something unique that no one knows about, but everyone will love.

I tried to get my groomsmen something different to reflect things they love. One guy is in the office in meetings all day during the week. He likes his job, so I got him an engraved cross pen, so he can show off in his meetings. The other guy is a die hard Red Sox fan and another is a huge giants fan. On the New York Times Store, I was able to get them the front page of the New York Times from 2004 when the Red Sox beat the Yankees on a mounted framed poster and a plaque with the front page of the Monday Sports section the day after the Giants won the Superbowl. The other guy is dying to get a bar set for his new bar that he built in his house, so I got him a bunch of engraved Tankards and Pilsners from exclusivelyweddings.com. The best man is a big Bills fan and a poker player, so I got him a Buffalo Bills Poker Guard (you can find anything on Ebay) and a Fossil Buffalo Bills watch.

It was a lot of work, I spent days thinking about what each of them would be excited about and I know they will all be pumped when they get these.

The issue I would have if I bought them all the same thing is that many of them already have poker chips, engraved pint glasses from other weddings, etc. I want what I give them to be special, something they aren't going to get in another wedding party (with the exception of the guy who wants the bar glasses).

We are not sure yet. We keep trying to come up with something different for each of the guys but I'm at a loss and FH seems to not have any ideas

One idea that I really liked was what FH received at one of his GM's wedding. They got the guys one share of stock in a company. They picked companies that reflected their personalities. For example one guy was into fishing so he got stock in a sporting company. Another guy is a big drinker so he got Bud. They also got the guys engraved flasks. To be honest the flask has never been brought out again, but we thought the stocks were so funny and the other day he received an update on his share that said he had 16 cents. We had a big laugh over it and started talking about the wedding day. I love the idea, but don't think we can copy it since he is a GM.
