Did a lot of people give you gifts when you announced you are pregnant (before shower)? A bunch of our friends just announced they are pregnant - many of which are very close friends and I want to get them all something without breaking the bank. Any cool ideas?

We got some cute outfits from friends. We also got stuffed animals and videos on raising children and all sorts of helpful information regarding babies.

I got lots of little gifts, such as books (for the baby, as well as naming books and pregnancy related books for me), a picture frame, a photo album for my u/s pictures, and many, many gift certificates.
The things I appreciated most were the cards with sweet congratulations messages in them.

Many people got me pregnancy books when we found out.........a friend gave me a pregnancy calendar, another friend gave me an ultrasound picture frame..........

Hi Denise! I got some cute decorative frames and stuff for the baby's room. Here are things I bought for myself which I think would also make cute gifts: a pregnancy book, some foot soaking bath salts and shea butter belly cream for stretch marks (from Bath and Body works), pregnancy journal/scrapbook or a subscription to Parenting magazine. I was just talking to my cousin who is due in February, and she kept saying she has nothing to wear.
And considering how expensive maternity clothes are, I was thinking of buying her something she could wear in maternity. And I also thought it would be nice for her to get something for herself.
I'm not sure if this is weird though?? What do you all think? Keep in mind this is someone I'm close with, and it would definitely be weird if it weren't a close friend or family.

oh I would LOVE it if somebody would buy me a sweater or something! Or a gift certificate to Gap Maternity or something....

Thanks for the ideas girls....
I wanted something personal for the mother - like an article of clothes or something relaxing at least in the case where DH and I are closer to the female in the relationship...not sure if I would know how to shop for an article of clothes though - maybe a gift card would work.
I guess I have some shopping to do - 4 gifts to guys...wonder if any more will announce in the next month....
