Since the holiday season is coming up... i was wondering if any early 2003 brides are going to be giving their vendors a gift.
I am trying to think of thoughtful gifts, but i was wondering if anyone was planning on giving something... would they please share thier ideas!?
Thanks...

Re: Gifts for Vendors
Wow! Do you mean to tell me that even with your wedding coming up, you have the extra $$ in your budget to buy gifts for people that haven't even completed a service for you yet? That is generous, and honestly, you are a better person than me.
I would not give vendors any gifts - yet. For the holidays this year, I think a nice thoughtful card is appropriate, with a note saying how much you and FH are looking forward to working with them to make your wedding day a success.
But, I'd reserve your $$ and possibly buy token gifts of appreciation AFTER your wedding, when you know for sure that they all lived up to their contracts...
JMHO....don't flame me for honesty...

Re: Gifts for Vendors
Actually, since we are offically the clients of our vendors....they should be getting us gifts!

Re: Gifts for Vendors
it's a nice thought, but I didn't, nor would I if I had the opportunity! You're paying them good money to perform their services for the day....I think that's enough
I agree with dunne - we're the clients - they should be giving us gifts!!! LOL

Re: Gifts for Vendors
nor i... but i was wondering something, and i would like all of you to give me your honest opinions.... my family is having a severe problem with something. we are paying them good money for their services. yet they have the nerve to incorporate into their contracts that we both feed them (which I was going to do anyway), but that we also include a gratuity..... I'm kinda urked over this.... anyone else have any input?

Re: Gifts for Vendors
snook4 - Save your money. I agree with the prior posters - we are clients of the vendor and if you want to do something thoughtful -send them a holiday card.
lnp2003- Feeding the vendor is a common thing that may be included in the contract but as for the gratuity - that's kind of rude. Tips are supposed to be discretionary and customarily we brides know to give a tip but to put it in the contract is kind of outrageous. IMO.

Re: Gifts for Vendors
yeah - most of the ones that i have signed have put in an additional 15% gratuity at the bottom of the contract.... i'm kinda annoyed.

Re: Gifts for Vendors
I am not getting them a gift. The thought never even crossed my mind. If you want to do something nice, I would just send a card with a thoughtful note.

No gifts needed....payment for services rendered is gift enough! LOL

Re: Gifts for Vendors
I gave our DJ one of our CD favor that was it, but the thought never even crossed my mind, I guess writing those large checks to them in my mind was gift enough. If you have the extra $$$ and you feel the need to do so go ahead. I do not think it is necessary.
Happy planning

Re: Gifts for Vendors
Thanks for your input, girls...
I'm going to give my florist an assortment of coffees since he is giving us so much... plus he's a family friend...
As for the vendors giving us gifts... Verdi sent us nice candles...
I wasn't thinking about getting them something extravagant... just a little something...
