Okay so we are about 2 1/2 weeks away and in the final stages of our planning. We met with Dawn to finalize our menu but were not impressed with the cake options included. We went to La Boulangerie to ask about minor upgrades and were told that it would be $450 minimum, not being cake people my fiance was totally opposed to paying this for a wedding cake. As much as I agree its alot of money when we can get one for free, I still want it to look nice. Can anyone tell me what you are doing? upgrade or no upgrade? if anyone has used the basic cakes that they give you to choose please let me know what you thought about it. Thanks!

I totally went for the upgrade since I know my cake will be in pictures. FH and I had a bit of extra cash. We got all fondant and gum paste flowers. I am posting a picture: hopefully it'll show up. Corey was excellent to work with. In addition, we were able to choose any flavors we wanted for the inside. With the provided Giorgio's cake, you could only choose chocolate, vanilla, or lemon.
Hey, Ive been planning on going with the giorgios cake but i have not met with them and am not really sure what their options are. We are not cake people either and on a tight budget, so that being said, i guess when it comes closer to the wedding, if we have the extra $450 i would upgrade for pic purposes only. otherwise giogrios cake it is!

I'm not really much help because I upgraded, but I can tell you that I had the same experience as ellyn. Corey is awesome to work with and was really flexible with what we wanted (granted we paid extra, so that should be expected). Lmk if u have any other questions about this!
