Giorgio's Brides- Past and Present.....

Giorgio's Brides- Past and Present.....

If Giorgio's was a little over an hour from where you live/your ceremony/most guests live would you still have booked there??

Here's why I ask...

FH and I have been on the hunt since February for a hall. We both fell completely in LOVE with Giorgio's the minute we stepped in the room and wanted to book on the spot. We knew we needed to step away to think and keep looking but I honestly haven't found anything else I like as much. I loved the room, staff and atmosphere there and really feel it could be the perfect place.

HOWEVER.....everyone on both sides of the family are already making comments about the distance and making us second guess ourselves...so annoying lol

I really don't know what to do, we love the place but don't want to listen to people complain and second guess myself for 2 years leading up to the wedding about how far away it is for us. We are looking at early April for the wedding so is it worth it to make the long trip if it's still so early in the spring???

I just imagine a beautiful, elegant room that everyone is comfortable in, amazing food and a staff that has excellent service.

Has Giorgio's provided this for you???

I'm not booked with Giorgio's but FH & I did go look at it. It's absolutely beautiful and the owners were wonderful. We actually traveled to see it in a bad storm, so April should be a lot nicer than when we saw it Honestly, it is far, but just get a nice hotel block so people can stay - then they shouldn't complain.

I did not book with Giorgios either, we booked with Vineyard Caterers which is pretty close to them. We live in eastern Nassau so we are probably in the same boat as you. I just keep thinking that we have traveled for other peoples weddings, why cant someone travel for us. If you love it and you know its the one, then do it!!! Screw everyone else!!! haha

Yes, you definitely will not be disappointed, food was fabulous. In fact, the first time I went there was almost 10 years ago, and it always stood out to me. If my cousin didn't get married there it definitely would have been a top choice!

Thanks so much!! :)

When we got engaged we knew it was either East Wind (I wanted) or Giorgios (FH wanted) and I also liked but my deciding factor was the hotel rooms that East Wind could offer. Giorgios has those magnificent grounds where you are going to be able to take breathtaking pictures that will last a lifetime. There are several hotels that are not too far from you. Aside from East Wind we have a block at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is located in Riverhead, prolly a 10-15 minute drive to Giorgios. Hilton was the cheapest and most accommodating out of the other area Riverhead hotels, which are the closest to Giorgios.

FH and I live in Shoreham, we are the farthest east out of all our relatives and I am sure some are complaining but tell them to shut up and like it, or stay home!

I think as long as accommodations are provided then they have no leg to stand on. Yes, it is an added cost but either drive and shut up or drink and be merry for a lil more money.

We live in northport and are booked at giorgios.this is our second family wedding there. We did the hotel block.. Had shuttles to and from so everyone could drink.. And it is great because we had an open bar afterparty at the hotel.everyone changed into pJs and sweats and the night was nt over! Next morning we had breakfast together. It was the best! We are booked at hotel indigo.. Last time we were at holiday inn express, both provide free shuttles to and from giorgios. Holiday inn express has free continental breakfast. . We treat it almost like a destination wedding. And enjoy every extra celebratory minute! Go for it.

DH and I live in Merrick, and my parents are from Mineola. I ha the same concerns as you when I was looking and fell in love with Giorgios. My dad was against the distance because he felt it was too far, and he kept telling me that no one was goin to come. I got married almost eight months ago and people are still talking about my wedding and my father was eating his words. People will complain about the distance, but those who love you will come regardless of the distance and they will see exactly why you choose Giorgios. The food is delish, the service amazing. Honestly the distance is nothing. I say do it. I did and couldnt have been happier.

Re: Giorgio's Brides- Past and Present.....

Not only is Giorgio's far from a lot of the guests but our ceremony is about 40 minutes further away in Greenport NY (bc a family friend is doing the ceremony). We booked two hotel blocks, got a shuttle to go to the ceremony hotel and RH and am doing everythign to take care of the guests, I have not regretted the distance once!

Everyone raves about Giorgio's and Rob one of the BM's has taken such good care of us I've never had to worry about a thing. The second FH and I stepped in there we knew it was the one and have only gotten more excited every since.

I'm sorry people are complaining to you, but people will complain about EVERYTHING! Who cares! It takes me 30 minutes to get to the mall, that doesn't mean I don't go shopping.... people who care about you and FH will take the time, and everyone else can stay home and pout!

Thank you all SOOO much for your input!!!! It has really helped to hear from other brides that have similar circumstances :)

I agree with all of you that those who are important to us will be there and everyone else can go scratch!!!! Hahaha

Thank you again for the help!!! :)

We are treating it as destination, blocked 30 hotel rooms at hyatt place in river head, and making a weekend of it. Our RD is right as you walk out of hotel then next day wedding then Atlantis does brunches so we only had to worry bout shuttling people for the wedding. People will comment about everything, it's your wedding and if you love the place then that's all that matters. By the way, I am so happy I booked there, rob and George are so helpful and go above and beyond.

ITA with all of the ladies here. I live in NJ and my whole BP lives in NYC but we are booked at Giorgio's and I haven't once had any regrets. Rob the BM is AMAZING and really takes care of all of his brides. Everyone that has been there has great things to say about the food and service. We booked a block at Hotel Indigo and are having a breakfast the following morning. We have a ton of guests coming from OOT and from Nassau/NYC and no one has complained (at least not to me!) As a matter of fact, most of my vendors are located in Nassau as well. The distance doesn't seem to be an issue at all...

I agree w/all the ladies...most of my guests are traveling from Nassau/city/upstate and spending the wknd. we're in Northport and are treating it like a mini destination. Get together the night before, shuttle to and from hotel indigo for guests, brunch the next day! So worth it!
