I'm at the final step of choosing a venue and it's between two completely different types (Giorgio's vs. De Seversky Mansion).
I'm going to Sunday Brunch at Giorgio's this Sunday and I was wondering if any of you have insight as to how good the food is...should I judge the food by the brunch? Did you find that the wedding food was good?
I want to make sure i make the best decision and food is a HUGE factor in this, so i'm counting on your reviews to help me!
Also, i haven't heard many negatives about de seversky food but if anyone has had a BAD experience with them please let me know.
Thanks!

Re: Giorgio's Food/Brunch
I actually booked with Giorgio's and had both a private food tasting with them (which can also request) and have attended their brunch. Both were equally amazing. I cannot think of one thing I had on either occasion that wasn't good.

Re: Giorgio's Food/Brunch
I'm booked at Giorgio's and although I haven't had a tasting yet, I have heard nothing but great things about the food from people that have attended weddings there or got married there. I have been to the brunch, which is great. I have never heard one bad thing about the food there. HTH!
BTW, you can't go wrong with Giorgio's. If you haven't been speaking to Rob, talk to him. He really takes care of his brides. : )

I was just at a wedding at Giorgios and the food was good nothing to rave about but just your typical catering hall food.

Giorgio's Food/Brunch
I guess you can't please everyone... depends on how picky you are i guess. I know i've gone to places people have raved about and didn't like the food. Could have been the choices at that party or maybe just that day the chefs were off... who knows!
General consensus sounds pretty good though... i've seen maybe one or two 'eh' reviews, but i've seen TONS of great reviews.
Thinking I might end up a Giorgio's bride for 2013! we shall see after Sunday's Brunch!
welcoming additional reviews of course!

Re: Giorgio's Food/Brunch
In the past year I've been to 2 weddings at Giorgio's and both dishes I got (one shrimp, one steak) were very good! I was very pleased with the cocktail hour food too. Everything I had was very good. I do have to say that at both weddings I was seated at a table in the back and we didn't get our dinner plates until 11pm, meanwhile other tables were finished with their dinners and even receiving second servings long before we got ours... and it happened at both weddings... I've never really seen that happen anywhere else. I'm thinking it's an under-staffing thing, because both weddings had over 250 guests. I really enjoyed my dinners when I finally got them though.

This is a really good point. Ask how many servers per head they have, do waiters bus their own tables and how do they serve, do they sweep the room or sweep tables, so that all the dinners hit the table at the same moment. I know this was a big deal with Bourne, they are very proud of how the dinner hits the table and how the room is served. By the way, you can always ask the cost of adding more servers. We did this a hundred years ago when I had my reception at Crest Hollow.

I believe they said there is one server per table and one bus person per 2 tables. I've worked in the hospitality industry and agree thT this is a big deal, but most problems like these occur when the guest count is high as she mentioned it was. We're looking at 150 to 175 so I think their ratio is good.

Giorgio's Food/Brunch
I had my wedding at giorgios almost a year ago. People are still talking about how good the food was. I'm a pretty picky eater and was very happy with the food selection.
Giorgios was the best decision I made

Giorgio's Food/Brunch
The food at Giorgios is great. I live in the area and have been to numerous brunches and events there. It was always good. If you are in doubt, set up a private tasting. It is hard to come on here bc there is always a bad apple in the bunch so it is prolly best to try it on your own so you are 100% comfortable. While I think their brunch is good, I think you should def book a tasting.
