So, Fh and I got invited to an Indian/American wedding, which I am SUPER psyched for (I find other cultures very interesting and inspiring!). Question is; What do I wear? My bff is going with her fh and is wearing a gown! I had no intention of wearing a gown since my FH bought me this really nice satin dress for my b-day ( i was eyeing it for months!). Its cocktail lenght, sweetheart neckline with straps and open back, oh and its black... but now I am concerned that I am going to appear underdressed!
Can someone help me and let me know what they think is proper to wear?

well lets see.....when is the wedding at night?? and where are they having the wedding??? i think you should be okay, i know my best friend is pakistani so when she goes to a wedding she can't really where anything too revealing but thats her and her family.....so i think you should be fine with the dress......it really all depends though.....

I don't think you'll be under-dressed. Satin is a dressy fabric so I think you'll be fine. I'm not sure how fancy the wedding is going to be but I would think a gown would be too dressy.

u can get away with it..but deff dress it up with jewelry!! indian weddings consist of a guest list roughly bout 300-700 ppl.. u can wear what u normally wear. where is the reception?

I have been to an Indian wedding..the only thing I know for sure is that you should have your shoulders covered...I asked my friend before her brothers wedding.
They don't care about color or length, so I just had a sheer shawl around my shoulders for the wedding and part of the reception.

i think you should be fine. i worked with an indian girl and i had asked her what the proper attire was and she said everyone wears what they would normally wear for their culture. so you should be fine with that dress
