Girls advise PLEASE!

Original post by EmberLynn

Okay I love this! I really want have one on the wall behind my FH and I. But here is the problem I'm keeping my maiden name, the FIL's dont know nor need too. I was thinking of using our first intials but my first name is bonnie and his is joe. You all under stand the whole BJ thing. If I reverse it, it will be JB but that might look too obvious that we switched it to that. And that might cause problems. What do I do? Should I use our first names or our last?

I say use your first initials... I don't mean to sound rude or anything but come on how old are we?? Your initials are B & J - it is what it is... In general I don't think that wreath is supposed to have last name initials because traditionally, the bride takes the mans last name so why would you have two letters? You would have either one or three. I think it is for the first name initials... JMHO though...

I would do a regular monogram using FH's last name. Just because you don't plan on changing your name doesn't mean you can't use his initial.

I would use the first names... I think BJ is not a prob, but if it bugs you, flip them. I think you can do the monograms either way....

I like the idea of your date. you can do
10 06 and that can stand for your month/year or your month/date. so, however people look at it, it works!

I saw smaller letters in AC Moore today. Maybe you could spell out your first names?

I agree, just use SMALL letters, spelling your names down each side!

I would just use your 1st initials, if it really bothers you then switch the letters. It really shouldn't be a big deal. I also like the idea of including your date, maybe on the bottom, then your initals might not draw so much attention. I think it's really nice to have at the wedding, and a nice keepsake for afterwards.

I plan on keeping my last name until I have kids or until they are old to question then I said I would give in.

I would say go with J B or do the monogram of you initials and his last name initial.

whatever you choose his family will not automatically think that you are not taking his name. people don't think like that especially if they are backwards they just assume it. So let them assume!

Bcasue I know many married women who have kept their name but have used their husband's name for durng the ceremony and such

No I won't do that. It would bother me a lot.

Right, that's why my vote is for you to use your first name initals.

Yeah but wouldn't that make them think I kept my last name? His grandmother will throw a fit if she finds out.

Just because you use your last name initial doesn't mean you aren't changing your last name.. you could say you are just acknowledging both families! Just because you are getting married doesnt mean you wont have your family anymore with your maiden name.. even if you were taking his name, why is it that all weddings revolve around the grooms family name?!?! the brides family is just as important just a side thought! I say you do it with your last name initials and say that is your way of displaying two families coming together you dont have to explain any further you are not chaning your name!

Good Luck!
