Can you change your name with the DMV and all your credit cards and stuff but not change SS? I'm still in the process of getting my US citizenship (i was born in the philippines) so I can't change SS until my citizenship is finalized. but can i change it everywhere else? or do i have to wait?
i went to the DMV first to change my name. All they wanted to see was my license and my marriage license. I don't think one has to do with the other.

yeah- i did that and i havent changed my social yet. I'm too lazy to go there!!!
This is good info to have b/c I am not a fan of sitting and waiting in gov't offices....so since I am momentarily skipping the SS office, all I need to change my license is my current one and the marriage license/certificate? Part of my delay is that I've misplaced my BC and it will be weeks before I get a new one (from out of state)....but I really want to get this name change over with!
