Girls covering their faces with veils...

anyone wearing their veil for the entire ceremony and removing it at the kiss or is everyone removing it once they reach the alter? I want to wear mine the entire ceremony, but am not sure if it will look awkward?

I wore mine down the isle. My mom and dad walked me down. When we got to the end of the isle my dad lifted my veil and kissed me, then so did my mom. The veil stayed up after that! Then, after the ceremony it came off!

I was originally going to attach the mantilla veil to the back of my head but my aunt did such a nice job on it it looks amazing over my face (kinda feels like I'm under a high fashion mosquito net lol) Wasn't sure how comfortable I'd be.

I took mine off when I got down the aisle. My eyelashes kept getting caught on it and it was REALLY annoying! But it is beautiful.

My cousin just did a semi Orthodox Jewish Wedding and apparently they HAVE to keep it on the whole time. She said the same thing as someone else did, it got hot under there and her eyelashes kept getting hit.

Loved your pics! Your veil is much longer than mine. Mine was made finger tip length because I thought I'd have my face uncovered and just attach it to the back...but when i was playing around pulled it over my face I loved it...so when my face is covered the edge of the lace hits right below my nipple. By the way, your profile pic has inspired a wedding day photo!

I kept wondering if my lipgloss would stick to it and I'd have to keep pulling it off I'm definitely going to have it on for some pre-ceremony pics. It's easy to change it to just attached to the back if I notice it's a problem during the photos. It's only one layer though...25 minute ceremony...could it really get that hot?

First of all, thanks

Secondly, since you love your veil, then i'd say to go for it like i said, it might get hot under there, but it's only 1/2 hour ... it's not that long

i had a 1/2 hour ceremony too ... but it was august and outdoors (but on a not-too-hot day). it's just that there's no airflow iwth the veil over your head so you don't get any draft or whatnot.

as for lipgloss, i didn't have a problem with that.

i thought about doing this, cuz its super traditional

i asked DH what he thought...b/c he would need to be the one to raise the veil

he said no.

so, i say, ask your FH about this

FH is cool with whatever. I just hope he doesn't get confused or nervous and try to remove it when I get up there and I'll have to slap his hand away

DH was so excited when the Rabbi said 'you may now kiss the bride' ... he pretty much lifted the veil off my face so quickly - it looked a bit stupid in the pictures .... make sure your FH knows how to lift the veil!

Yeah my cousin's was about a half hour and she said it got warm/hot under there but she lived. It was more the eyelashes that she said was annoying (same here). but if you can switch it after pictures if you want to I would say try it and go for it. Remember, this is a 1 time shot, so do what you want.

Re: Girls covering their faces with veils...

i wore it the whole duration of the ceremony, the only thing that bothered me was my lashes but it's bearable since we had a 30min ceremony...

plus it looks great in the photos! and, it may sound corny, it just adds to that 'special effect' when the minister said 'you may kiss your wife' - hubby was so excited to take that veil off my face!

They should go over it in your rehearsal. My church gave us the option of when to lift the veil only to be told my veil didn't have a blusher and was going to be worn back the whole time.

We aren't having a rehearsal. Just the one 30 minutes before the ceremony at JT. I'm going to make sure FH understands the rules and regulations. I'm also going to make sure he lets the priest know so he doesn't give any awkward instruction (he's a very interesting man lol)
