I booked mine as soon as it came out. But then again - I need to do everything early.

Re: Girls going on cruise HMs
i think if its something unique and only serves a small number of people (and its something you have to do through the ship versus a local vendor), id book right away. depends on the excursion i guess. when we went to Bermuda, we didn't book any excursions; we did buy a ferry/bus pass for $15 and did everything on our own.
when our alaska cruise is available and we book, we are going to book the helicopter/dogsledding at the same time so we know we are good to go!
where are you going?

We are going to Bermuda, St Thomas, St Maarten and Puerto Rico. I know we definitely want to go to the Bacardi Factory in PR but other than that we have no idea what we want to book.

We cruise fairly frequently and we don't usually book excursions unless there's really limited space because as we cruise we change our minds a lot. Some cruiselines are more forgiving than others about cancelling or rescheduling excursions.

Re: Girls going on cruise HMs
st maarten just take the ferry to philipsburg and go to the beach and shop. its a 3 min ride and its liek 4$ a person and u can go back and forth alll day
st thomas, just hop on a bus and go to the beach.
we never booke xcursions. only in port canaveral cuz u have no choice.
ppl spend 35$ per person to go to the same beach fh and i go to for 2$ . the diff is..they book thru the ship and we just hop in a cab, walk or take a bus

Ditto. I don't usually book excursions til I'm on the boat. (NCL has this great kiosk to use for booking.) Or sometimes I don't book through the cruise line at all. I know in St. Thomas I found snorkeling (the same exact snorkeling) about $30 cheaper on the island rather than through the cruise ship and we had our gear for an unlimited amont of time whereas with the cruise line you only had an hour and a half.

Re: Girls going on cruise HMs
I usually book wayyy in advance, just to get the time I want..but I know you can book while you're there. You can also switch, depending on what is available. I like heading out early and get out on the first tenders or be one of the first out of the ship to avoid lines, so I book the earliest excursions.
Also check out ShoreTrips, they do similar excursions sometimes for cheaper.
St. Thomas, defintely just take a bus or a taxi to a beach.
