I guaranteed 140, and hope to keep my list at 175. I heard there is a guideline, I think it is 20-25% decline. I am not sure, though.

Make sure you have an idea of your number of guests before you SIGN the contract.
Go by the 20% rule. 20% of invited guests don't show. So if you have 200, guarantee 160.

guaranteed 125, invited 270 (we knew a lot were out of state and country) wound up with 209

we guaranteed 125. I keep telling FI we're probably going to invite around 175. FI and I both agree that since we are both only children (his parents split when he was 3, both remarried but his dad has 2 children so he has half siblings) and he is the oldest and first to be married on his mom's side and I have a lot of family who hear food and wedding they'll camp out at the hall so we anticipate everyone saying 'yes'
