Girls I need your advice.....

Girls I need your advice.....

Ok girls.. I am in need of some serious support and advice. I am completely fed up and disgusted in myself. Since FH and I have been dating, I am sure most of us are familiar with ‘getting comfortable’ – well I ‘got comfortable’ about 45 lbs too comfortable…I did the Weight Watchers thing before and I lost all of the weight, kept it off for a few weeks and it slowly crept back on.. Girls.. I am my wits end with myself.. Have any of you found a great diet that really works.. I know that it is going to come down to myself really sticking to it and putting all of my effort in to stay on track. I just need some words of advice or comfort to know that I am not the only one going through this… sorry so long

anyone doing weight watchers out in the patchogue area? let me know - id love to find a 'buddy' for meetings or to walk with.. thanks girls

ETA: I am looking into the trainer that was recommended by you girls - I bought a new notebook to record meals and workouts.. and I signed up for WW - so I know I will be accountable for weighing in each week.. hopefully this is the kick start that I need to get the ball rolling.. thanks for all of your kind words and kind FMs.. you girls are always the sweetest...

Sorry you are going through this. I definetly have to get my butt in shape also. I have been following the south beach diet and I lost about 20lbs..I would like to lose another 20...LOL
I try to eat minimal carbs and when I do, I eat whole grains. I have lots of veggies and maybe 1 fruit a day in the morning. Everyones bodies are different though and we all respond different to certain foods. I know when I don't have white bread and sugar..I have so much more energy and my waistline is leaner. You have to figure out what is best for you and your body. My mom swears by weight watchers because it teaches you how to eat right.

I know exactly how you feel. I put on about the same in the last year that Ive known my FH - he's a great cook and owns an italian deli!!!

I have had the hardest time getting motivated and refuse to try on dresses until I lose some weight.

I've done WW with some luck in the past, but dont' find their meetings helpful or motivating for me, so I dont' want to spend the money. I got a trainer a couple of months ago. She told me to try to avoid eating carbs after 5, easier said than done, but I've gotten used to it.

The biggest motivator was I drove past a local bridal store the other day that has the prettiest dresses in the window that I want to try on. I completely gave up sweets 1 week ago today and avoid eating carbs except 1 meal a day. Of course I give myself 1 treat dessert for the week. Most important is my family and FH have been a huge support, and FH has changed his cooking and reminds me not to eat the bread or desserts at dinner. It has definitely helped over the week, but it is definitely a daily battle.

I wish you a lot of luck, it is not easy!!

Sorry you are dealing with this, but I can say that Ive been there myself and what ive found to work best for me is to cut out all sugar from your diet. be careful because it likes to hide in places you wouldnt expect it to!!! Also, Ive really really reduced my carb intake, if i do have them its in the morning this way i have the whole day to burn them off. But be smart about them too, no white bread, pasta. If youre going to eat them try to have whole wheat. I've done pretty much no carbs, but I now thats not for everyone. I also was using the treadmill for about 20-25 minutes a day, i really saw results and after awhile you wont even want the sugar or the carbs anymore!

I hope this helps, if you want feel free to FM me!!

I know how you feel and have been there. Going to the gym 4 times a week and eating high protein / low carb works for me! I kept the weight off since 2005.

I know how you feel! I would say try weight watchers again, it works better if you have someone to go with because you do it together. I went to WW with my mom 3 years ago, with ups and downs I lost almost 40 pounds and kept it off for over a year and a half. You can do it!!!

I really liked weight watchers. I never went to the meetings though. I did the online one and it was good! I think the best thing is to do the WW and go to the gym. Alot of girls go to the gym and only do cardo but that wont work for long. I have seen results with watching what I eat, going to the gym 4 times a week (30 mins of weight training and 30 mins of cardo). My problem is that I have been on a slump with summer.

I also heard Hydroxycut works very well as well. As long as you eat well and work out.

you're not alone. i've put on a few pounds but i've managed to loose it by just eating better & running. and avoiding sugar as much as possible. just find something that works for you & stick to it.

Re: Girls I need your advice.....

I lost weight by eating small meals during the day and walking/rollerblading. A friend of mine who is a personal trainer and marathoner told me to eat the food pyramid and not to deny yourself certain things. II am always hungry and have a massive sweet tooth so I replace it with fruit and allow myself 1 sweet thing (not too crazy) per day and the small meals help me to not be hungry all the time. I try to eat one thing from each food group and multiple fruits and vegies. I also exercise with friends. I am not a great gym person so I go to the park to walk during lunch time and have my lunch and do a lap and then after work a do a few more with some co-workers/girl friends. A nutricionist is also a good person to see. I have specific dietary issues and it has really helped.

awww sweets.....i think most of us are in the same boat. Since dating FH I tacked on 20lbs that i cannot lose. I've tried diets but I cheat and I go to the gym....I noticed I've toned a bit but my tummy and back is still a problem.

I know this gets expensive but some of my co-workers have done it and it works....try the nutrionist....I'm looking into one for the fall.

I feel your pain...we will get to our goal together and Thin...No worries

Aww penny thanks! I did post a little while ago about my fitness coach. She is absolutely wonderful. For a long time I was always disgusted with myself no matter what I did. I did weight watchers for a long time. It worked but I found myself not eating healthy. I ate a lot processed low point foods and it was awful. I battled with an eating disorder and have always had low self esteem when it came to my looks and physique. So I finally decided to try somethng new. With this plan I eat such healthy foods and feel great. I exercise regularly and really am feeling much better. Of course, I have my moments where I feel terrible but for the msot part I feel super!

You can do this. Don't get depressed cause it only makes it worse. The good thing about gaining weight is that it is a temporary problem. You jsut have to find the best solution for you. I don't recommend diet pills at all. Fad diets are terrible too. You have to find a lifestyle that works for YOU> let me know if you need anything!!

Re: Girls I need your advice.....

This is what I've been doing this summer and i've lost 8 lbs so far.

Drink lots of water.
Eat 5-6 small meals each day.
Instead of a handful of chips, I eat fruit or carrots.
Exercise (cardio) 4-5 days a week. (20 min.)
Eat spinach salad with either mozzarella or fruit on top...at least 4 days a week for lunch.
Take fish oil pills to boost my immune system and my energy.
Hardly any carbs...I have been eating pasta once a week. It's hard at first, but you get used to it and don't crave it anymore.
Sit down at the table and put food on a plate or a bowl. This way you can control your portions.
Don't eat in front of the tv. Or you'll be eating and not thinking about how much you ate b/c you will be too focused on what you are watching(which I often used to do.)

This is by far, the easiest diet I have ever been on...b/c I haven't had to change my lifestyle dramatically to get results. Just be mindful of what you are putting in your mouth and you'll see the lbs come off. GL!!!

If you want to lose a quick 10lbs only drink water cut out soda and juice. You can eat normally. Just don't eat after 7-7:30pm. go to bed at a decent time so your not tempted to snack.
