What are some of the questions you asked the Reception Hall prior to booking...how did you organize payment, since we have some time...any advice?

Re: Girls that have booked RHs
I thought looking at the halls was the most fun part so far. I asked some of the following:
1. Was there a set schedule of when the wedding would start or can you pick when you want it to?
2. What was the maximum amount of affairs that could be held at one time?
3. What was the price per person and the minimum required?
4. Was there a choice with the cakes included or is it one set cake?
5. Are there any vendors that you had to use and if so which ones are they?
6. I asked to set up a food tasting for the hall that I thought I was going to book
7. How far before ceremony would you be able to get at the hall for pictures.
8. Where would the ceremony be held if it rains or the weather is not good and it can not be outside.
9. Could you come in and bring friends and family to show them the space prior to booking.
WIth regard to payment: I gave a deposit when I signed the contract. I had to give $2,000 about 2 months after I signed the contract. I have a payment due of $2,000 about 4 months after the last deposit. The rest of the money is due two weeks before the wedding. The initial deposit was able to be on credit card if we wanted but the remaining payments have to be in cash/check.
Hope this helps.
Take your time and see alot of halls (that is unless you fall in love with one that is in your budget before you see alot which is what happened to me!)

Re: Girls that have booked RHs
I agree with Mara on all the questions. As usual, I think she pretty much covered everything. (If I ever need a lawyer, I am SO FMing you!) The only difference with me is that the deposit was a little less and half of our payments are due 1 year before the wedding. Then, nothing is due until a few weeks before the wedding (that would be the balance).
