Girls that took the NY Bar at the Javits Center....

Which hotel did you stay in and when did you book?

My friends are freaking me - a lot have booked already - the bar is NOT supposed to freak me out yet- its ONLY January!! - well almost Feb - but still!

I believe that BarBri offers its members a discount at the Hilton on 42nd Street.

I didn't book until June Don't worry!! I stayed at the Southgate Tower Suite Hotel which is not that far from the Javitz. I paid $120 a night. I wanted somewhere that if I had to walk I could just in case I couldn't get a cab. I got a ride with my friend and her FH in the morning, but in the afternoon I walked back to the hotel. It wasn't a bad walk at all.

What I really liked about the hotel was that it had a kitchen. There is really no place to buy real food at the Javitz center. So I brought cold cuts from home and made myself sandwhiches on both days.

I didnt stay in the city. A couple frinds and I got a ride from one of the parents into the city. Just make sure you leave an hour before you need to be there. I personally did not want to be in a hotel the night before...

I took the bar exam on the hottest two days of 2001! What a nightmare!

Oh, and you may want to bring your own lunch (buy it the night before or in the morning), cause the few places that around there were packed during the break.

Did you check out the morning of the second day of the bar? Where did you leave your stuff?

This all is freaking me out - i just need to calm down and focus on my last semester...

Yes, there is air conditioning! I dont remember if it was freezing in there or not, but you should bring a cardigan or sweatshirt with you just in case.

It was just so freakin' hot outside, and I was outside before the exam and during lunch. I guess it's better than rain.

It was freezing inside when I took the Bar. I brought a sweater with me. Definitely bring something.

Peter stayed with me both nights, so he checked us out in the morning of the 2nd day of the bar. I left all my bags with the concierge and then picked them up after the bar and headed to Jersey. Are you taking Jersey also?

I dont think i am going to. Intellectual property federal law focused so I am not really going to ever need it. Plus my bosses get admitted pro hac vice for all their cases outside of NY. I was thinking of taking conneticut though - but that would mean that peter would eventually have to take it if we ever move there and I dont think he would be too thrilled about htat

I took it b/c I didn't have a job when the applications were due. I never wanted to practice in NJ. Now I really wish I wouldn't have given them so much $$ to take it. Oh well. If I had to do it all over again, I would've taken CT.

the best western at the javitts
its one block from there but it did book up really quick!
I checked out wed morning and left my stuff w/ them and didnt have a problem, I shoved my pocket book in one of my luggage and took my wallet w/ me in the plastic bag
