are you wearing contacts for the big day? I know I will be but its been a long time since I've worn them! How far in advance should I start 'practicing'? I was thinking to go get them about 2 weeks prior...what do you gals think?

If you've already worn them then you're ahead of the game, your eyes are already somewhat used to them. I would start wearing them AT LEAST 2 weeks prior but I would start sooner just in case there are any problems and you have to have them changed.

I wish we could do Lasik! Lucky you!
I got my contacts last week and had a bit of a time getting them in and out. It's just too weird, sticking my fingers in my eyes.
My fiance is picking his up on Saturday. Once we know both our prescriptions, we're going to buy a box from 1-800 Contacts or something, about 3 weeks before the wedding so we can continue practicing.

Hi!
I used to wear glasses (I opted for Lasik surgery, and no longer need them!) If I still used them, I would definitely try and get contacts at least 3 - 4 weeks before. Especially if your eyes are sensitive/allergy prone. If you have not worn them in a long time, your eyes will have to adjust to them again. You don't want to have irritated eyes on your big day!

Re: Girls that wear glasses....
I am a contact lens wearer
...I would start about a month before....that way you really know how you're going to be after long days, normal days, etc....FH's friend was told to get them for his wedding in August by the photographer...he started with them the week of...he really only wore them for the rehearsal and the day of! a slight waste, but he did it so they could have 'perfect' pictures and not worry about the glare....a small sacrifice that in his words, was 'worth it for her.'

Re: Girls that wear glasses....
I wore contacts back in junior high and they were very 'stiff' in my eyes. My girlfriend wears them and she assures me that they've come a long way in 15 years and are far more comfortable. I hope she's right!

I don't think I really have a choice of getting Lasik or not. My eyes are ALWAYS red, tired and irritated with my contacts... I just do NOT want that on the most important day of my life. It's pricey, but if I never have to wear contacts again, it will be worth it!

Very cool! I had it done too, this past December. Just a tip, I'd do it at least a few months before the wedding. The recovery is pretty quick, but it takes a while to feel 'normal' again.

I wore the contacts off and on for the month before I got married. The week before, I switched to a fresh pair, and I was pretty comfortable the day of.
Bring an extra pair of contacts with you, in case you cry one out. (I didn't.) some exta solution might be good, too. You'll be fine!

Re: Girls that wear glasses....
I wear glasses everyday and contacts only for special occasions because I have chronic dry eye. The last time I wore contacts was a year before my wedding, for my brother's wedding.
I went to the eye doctor about 1 month before my wedding and they ordered 3 pair of contacts for me after my exam. I wore them a few times in the 2 weeks before my big day. (They are 2 week contacts) Then I switched to a fresh pair the day of my wedding.
I had my glasses with me for back up, but didn't need them. Just remember to have your contact case with you, fresh solution, and the rewetting drops in your emergency bag. I only ended up needing the rewetting drops right before I went into the church, because it was so windy.
Also, I scheduled my make-up as late as possible so I could put my contacts in at the last moment. (About 2 hours before the photographer showed since it took nearly an hour for my make-up to be applied) I had no problems! Good luck!
