we are looking into staying at the Hyatt in Honolulu & Maui and then the Fairmont in Kona.

definitely wait, hotel promotions are still not out yet, but keep an eye on flights.

is it cheaper to do a package deal or to do the flights separately? i think i'm trying to use rewards points for one or the other but curious if that is a waste if it is cheaper when you just book together.

I hear Hyatt's in Hawaii are awesome and Liberty travel said if you stay at them on different islands you get a discount.

TA's don't make any money on flights so its ok to book your flights separate. The thing with flights and points is...you get a discount when booking round trip flights, so if you only have enough one way then it doesn't pay to use points.

Also, if you open up a Hawaiian Airlines card, you automatically get 20,000 points and thats enough to cover all interisland flights, 40,000 for one way from the west coast. We opened up one and have a ton of points now.
