girls who are having or had 'surprise' showers, but found out about them or figured out when it is, how did u handle it?

i feel horrible, but even w/o the registery peeking i did, i figured out when my shower is. should i tell them i know or just play it off like i'm surprised?

I'd pretend to be suprised - it fun for your guests and the people hwo hosted it :)

dont worry. i knew about mine too (it was last weekend) and even though i did, it took NOTHING away from it. my mind was so blown from walking into a room full of people shouting and taking your picture. i was speechless!! it was such a shock i felt like i was making no sense when i was greeting people bc i couldnt get over how cool the room was, all the people there, all the presents and the decorations. so dont worry...surprise or no surprise i am sure you will still be caught offguard by all the details.

I'm in the same boat! And I feel so bad because my sister came up with a VERY clever way to trick me- but I messed it up for her! It's actually quite funny. I found out the date because she was right in front of me putting her fitting appt in her planner so I saw in big letters SHOWER. How could I not look?

This happened to me! Just go along with it, don't tell anyone you know about it..... BMs and Mom (or whoever is involved in yours) enjoy the planning process, and the 'surpise' aspect - and by saying you found out will just ruin it for them.

If you're slightly mean like me, the fun part is messing with them For mine, the decoy BM was asking me to meet her at a restaurant in Manhattan for lunch (she comes from LI, I'm in BK)....obviously I knew what was at the restaurant..... So I said 'wouldn't it make more sense for me to just meet you at Penn and we'll go together?' So, the poor girl got to the restaurant early to take care of everything, hurried back to Penn, to pretend to get off a train, met me and we walked back to the restaurant...... Once the 'suprise' moment was over, I was like 'yea, I knew all along. Aren't I good liar??'

Just go with it.....it'll be just as much fun whether it's a surprise or not!

just pretend to be surprised---thats what i did. at the shower itself, as we were sitting down to eat, my sister was like 'did you know? u knew didn't you?' and i was like 'i kind of knew--but i'm still super happy!'

I have to share this story because it is hella funny- just hope my sister isn't lurking! Sorry it's long but it's a good one!

I found out the date accidentally when my sister had her planner open and I was behind her, as she was making her fitting appointment.

Then I get an evite for a 4th of July party from my sister. immediatly I say no, since FH and I have tickets to a game that day.

Well, next thing you know, sister is emailing FH and flipping out. She's asking him if we're sure we have a game that day. He says no- we do not have a game on the 1st of July. OOPS! I said no because I thought the party was the 4th of July- because it was a 4th of July party....but it was on the 1st!!! I didn't read it carefully enough! So I gave my sister a BIG scare!

So I pretended FH didn't tell me, and I changed my response and said we could go, since I re-read the evite. Man, she tried SO hard and I feel bad! That was a pretty good fake! All of the names on the evite are her friends- no one that would be invited to my shower, and they're all responding like a normal evite. REALLY clever! Too bad I already knew the date and wouldn't have fell for it anyway! I just think it's hilarious that I scared her into thinking I wasn't coming to my own shower!

I acted surprised...eventually FMIL and others figured it out and it was no big deal.

I have the teeniest inkiling when my shower is, but even if I do 'find out' I will not let the moms or BP know. They are working so hard to keep it a secret, I don't want to ruin it for them. Good Luck.

i know about mine too.

I was talking to my FMIL and she mentioned how she was talking to FH about the shower because it was on a day she was going sailing. And i was joking and said And what day is that and she said the 24th. I felt sooooo guilty. Now my bridal party, and mom know i know. Oh well.... Its still going to be fun, and i would have prob guessed anyway

i found out when my shower is too (it's not so hard, my sister lives in CA and she will only be here once before the wedding to attend a friend's wedding) but i wasn't upset - i like figuring out surprises. but i still plan on acting surprised, or my mom would be upset! she thinks she got me so good - she is planning a 'brunch' the weekend my sister is home so my grandparents can see her and say hi

My best friends dad got tipsy at her grad party and it slipped 1 week before. I played it off pretty well that I was surprised. She didn't notice until my FFIL announced it to me in conversation as she walked in the door behind me.

My brother slipped...I was honestly really upset! BUT I made sure I had the outfit I wanted and went and got my hair and makeup done for the shower. Some people still thought I was surprised. I was so overwhelmed seeing everyone I guess I looked genuinely surprised

I knew and never let anyone know. They worked so hard to suprise me that I just went along with it.

I found out only like 3 days beforehand, and not from any of my quests or family member. My mom sent away for a rebate on the KitchenAid mixer that was bought for us and attached some note to the rebate form she filled out and it got sent back to ME with the note when my shower was.

I just wore something casual and didn't let anyone know. It was still LOTS of fun. I think it made it harder for me to walk through the door knowing. I was shaking for a while after I walked in -- I was still suprised I had no idea who would be there Enjoy your shower!!
