Girls who DIY cardboxes

OK the one thing I can't figure out- how did you get the slot for the cards? Do I need to break out a saw?

A saw? I think that may be a bit extreme

i used a box cutter - an exacto knife would do the trick too

An exacto knife or razor blade should work.

Can I ask, what kind of boxes are you using and where did you get them from? I've looked in Michaels and found nothing

oooh, I have the same dilemma! I don't have a razor or exacto knife so right now a chainsaw is what I'm thinking of using to make the slot!!

I bought mine from Century 21, they're hatboxes..pretty sturdy and heavy! I'll take a pic of them when I get home.

A chainsaw!! Even better! I'll have to get one for when I start DIY my cardbox. FH already thinks I'm crazy I'd say the exacto knife suggestion is probably a little safer though

we haven't made ours yet but we're actually thinking of using wood/photo frames so I think we will have to break out the saw haha. thank goodness FH will be helping... last week I said 'I think I'll do it myself' about something wedding related and he said 'yourself? what about me!?' so cute

I made a few of these as gifts to future brides, and had boxes similar to above.... I used a box cutter that I accidentally stole from when I worked in retail as a teenager... it worked great! So if you can get your hands on one of those???

What are you using to cover your boxes? I bought fabric for mine but you can still see the design through it.
