I know this question has been asked a hundred times, but what do you plan on doing as far as moving in together?
Ideally I'd like to move in somewhere a few months before the wedding, so at least when we have a lot of last minute running around to do we'll be together.
FH kills me bc he changes his mind every week. First we were getting an apartment. Then we were buying a co-op. Then he found a few cheap houses so we were buying a house. Now we're back to a co-op. I want to punch him.
I know that now is one of the best times to buy, but I get scared of putting so much money down right before we have all the wedding bills to pay!
What do you plan on doing?

We have a house lined up for us. After the wedding, I will be moving into FH's house. We will be living in the basement apartment. The in a year or so, we are getting his Parent's house because they built a house in Myrtle Beach which they plan to retire in.

We'll prob get an apartment at the beginning of next year. I'm worried tho, that if we do it too close to the wedding date we won't have enough money for both. It's really a big stress. As for a house...we'll def be waiting a few years so we can get a good down payment and make sure our credit is good so we can get a decent interest rate.

we live together now, but when we first started looking it was pretty much the same thing, both our minds were changing every day, were we gonna rent, gonna buy, where are we gonna do this, when...blah blah blah, and then suddenly it just all fell into place. We have been living in an apt for 3 years now, and in 2 weeks we are finally moving into a house

FH has an apt in the same neighborhood. We def would like a house but I will prob move in to his apt until we can save some $$ for down pymt.
We are considering finding another apartment (possibly in LI) after we get married since landlord here does not allow pets...and we both want a dog..
Plus..where are all my shoes going to go! FH mentioned 'yuo dont have to take everything out of your parents apt :) you can leave smoe clothes/shoes there' ...ummm 'MEN! what do they know'

Re: Girls who don't live with FH already
We just bought a condo (should be closing next month)
FH is going to move in right away, but I think I'm gonna wait till after the wedding. It's just so stressful with everything happening at once I think I had a mini nervous breakdown during the whole condo purchase. Just try to stay calm and relaxed during the whole process!

We would have bought a condo now instead of renting an apt, but we didnt have the $$ to put down... so either we hit the lotto, are blessed with a money tree, or wait until after the wedding to get ourselves a condo

we plan on waiting until a few months b4 the wedding to get an apt...then once we're married, we'll start saving for a house...we're still unsure if we'll be staying on the island, since its so fricken expensive...

We were going to buy a co-op but, right now I think we are going to rent for a while. And I'm ok with that, we are looking for a place now since we only have 6 months until the wedding.

Re: Girls who don't live with FH already
We are hopefully going to start looking for a fixer upper house in like Jan to early spring. If we find something before the wedding and it doesn't need that much work then FH will move in and I will move in after we are married. If it needs work then we will try to do as much as possible before the wedding and then after the honeymoon continue to work. FSIL ended up doing the samething, the money was stressful but in the end it all worked out!!

We're going to move into an apartment next month!!! Originally we were going to buy a house but that fell through... we're going to live in an apartment for about a year and then i hope we'll have enough money to put down for a house or townhome.

Re: Girls who don't live with FH already
This is what I'm worried about. We would probably just barely have enough to make a down payment on a condo but then I feel like we'd be living on Ramen Noodles and PB&J for a few months until after the wedding to make sure we have enough saved.
The only thing that gave me hope was that when we looked at condos yesterday the realtor said we might be able to do 5% down and then another 5% a few months later. That would be AWESOME if that could work out but I have no idea how mortgages and all that stuff actually work.
TOO MUCH STRESS ALL AT ONCE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Haha ok I feel better now.

Re: Girls who don't live with FH already
A house appraiser who is also a friend told me that some neighborhoods offer incentives on your mortgage to move into a certain neighborhood. He isn't sure if they are doing it anymore or how the program was funded but he said that it was offered to firefighters, cops, teachers, anyone who they felt would be a 'upstanding citizen.' His wife told me that they have a family friend who was able to move into a nice house in a nice area of Selden due to this incentive. It is worth a shot.

Re: Girls who don't live with FH already
well we would love to buy a place right now but cant afford it. We will probably do that with the money we get from the wedding. I live with my parents in a three family house, so we will be living in one of the apts for like a year until we can buy. But we are already starting to get it together up there. We just bought a sofa set and little by little we will buy a few other t hings so that when we get back from the HM we wont be that stressed with putting that stuff together

Ideally we would like to move in together a few months before the wedding.
But with all the expenses...I think we are going to live in my parents house and then look for something after a few months of saving.
Or we might buy a house right after the wedding and just fix it up real nice and do a little a time and then move in.
It's so stressful trying to decide what were doing after the wedding with living arrangements and trying to plan a wedding at the same time.
