Has anyone been to Crete? - would you reccommend going there for our honeymoon? How about Mykanos- is it just a party place? If we are looking for the culture and views and you know romantic stuff where should we go besides Athens and Santorini... those are definite

FH and I looooved Crete - it's serene, beautiful and you'll be able to experience the culture in this very 'rural' island. Food is AWESOME (mousaka). Definitely take the tour at Agreco Farm - they serve awesome food and wine at the end of the tour.
Mykonos is a party place - we didn't like it too much, yes it's hip and supposedly-chic but who cares, we're from NYC - and everyone SMOKES!!

you can always try Paros (one of my favorite islands) and Samos. Ive been to Paros a few times (many years ago though) and from what I remember it was paradise!!

FH and I looooooooooooooooooooooved Crete. It's a beautiful island rich in culture. We did everything from renting a moped and driving around to lounging on the beach to visiting a true Cretian (sp?) town and enjoying a dinner show. We were so glad that we extended the trip to go there.
Although we loved Crete, Mykonos was our fav spot. It was absolutely gorgeous. The food was amazing (as it was all over Greece) and the views were incredible. I'm sure its a 'party town' but FH and I did not experience it.
If you have to choose between the 2, I'd say definately go to Mykonos-- you won't be disappointed!!

I have been to the Greek Islands many times since I am Greek and the most popular are Mykonos and Santorini. Mykonos is a party, but quite an interesting one even as an observer. Santorini has a lot of things to do and is beautiful.
Definitely take a day to tour Athens as well....all the sites are amazing.

If you're going to do Santorini, then you may want to skip Mykonos since it is more party and less culture than Crete.

I've been to Paros also. Its definitely beautiful and there are plenty of places that you can be alone. I would recommend it.
