Girls who have long hair...?

I have long hair but for my wedding i really want it all up...
Problem is...i don't want a huge mess or beehive on the top of my head...
I have been considering cutting some off right before the wedding?

What is everybody else going to do?

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

I'm not cutting my hair because I want to give myself the most versatility in putting it up. I think you just need to talk to a hairdresser and explain what you DON'T want and see what she comes up with - good luck!

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

I have been contemplating the same thing. I have long thich hair and I want to wear it up. I am probably going to cut it just a little. I still want enough to put up in a full pile of curls, but not a huge mound. I may make the decision of how much to cut after my first trial.

Re: Girl who have long hair...?

I'm leaving it half up/half down....

But, if you want it all up, I suggest you try different updo's where they 'route' your hair differently so that it doesn't all necessarily go UP and make a behive. There are lots of things you can do to make it not appear behive -ish. Do you want curls or sleek, chic updo? If your hair is not that thick, you can probably achieve this even with very long hair. I'll try to find pics...

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

You could do a low bun so that your hair is not going up... maybe something like this.... also depends how you want to wear your veil (back of the head/top of the head)...

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

I would love to do my hair half up half down..but I'm afraid it will get unruly if we have a ceremony outside with the breeze. I'm probably going to wind up with it all up.

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

My hair is really long as well. I thought I wanted it down but I saw some styles that I really like and they were up dos. Its like twists of hair and they curve around, so I assume they would not poof out too much..I like lttle tufts of hair sticking out here and there.....like the slightly funky styles of these dos:

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

I just got my hair trimmed today and highligthed. My hair dresser told me to just trim it a little bit, and in 3 weeks I am going for a hair trial, again. We have a wedding to go to that nite, so I may as well do it when I have someplace to go.

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

I second that. I have really long hair and I'm going to wear it down too with loose curls.

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

I have heard the the longer and fuller your hair is, the better your headpiece or tiara will stay in. My hair is long and right after the wedding, I am going with FH cousin to get our hair cut short. Here is a pic of the hairstyle I am considering. I got it off of a post here awhile ago.

Re: Girls who have long hair...?

Violetfairy...I love that style but my hair is thin and when i have tried that style
the curls come out in an hour..So i am not risking it again.
