Hi girls. A few weeks ago, I asked about Burton for bridal gowns for my sister. The ladies who responded all seemed to have good experiences with them. However, we have now heard one person express displeasure with the seamstress there. So now we are a little concerned.
For the girls who bought there, how did you alterations come out??? Please respond ASAP, we have an app't this weekend! :) We got such a GREAT price on the Maggie dress. The same price as on those internet websites. Ok, thanks.

Re: Girls who have used Burtons Gowns - Seamstress ?
I actually got a BM dress there, and was not too thrilled with the way it came out. First, they mis-measured me and then when I went for the fitting told me I gained weight (which I know was not true since I was seeing a nutritionist and got weighed every other week, so in fact I had lost weight). Then they let it out, and the dress was swimming on me when I wore it to my friend's wedding. But, my other friend got her BM dress there too and it was fine, so I guess it depends. They may pay closer attention to a wedding gown than a BM dress though.

Re: the meaning of 'BUMP'
Denise, would you please take a moment and explain to me 'BUMP' that was in response to the above question. Also, do you know about the notation that appears in some posts and is in red that says it was edited on such and such a date. I would really appreciate understanding these.
Thanks, Mary

Re: the meaning of 'BUMP'
Hi Mary,
Bump means that I just responding to it to 'bump' it up to the top of the Brides Helping Brides page. You know how if a post doesn't get responded to, it keeps going further down to page 2, page 3, page 4, etc then just gets lost in the scuffle. So I did that to bring it back to page 1 so more people will see it.
The red writing saying this post was edited, etc. means that the person who posted the post hit edit under that post and changed something in that post. Most girls when they do that will say:
Edited to say.............. so you know why they went back in there and what they changed.
Understand? Hope I was clear.

Re: the meaning of 'BUMP'
I bought my dress there and had no problems. The alterations were fine and the seamstress even added on sleeves for me (winter wedding and I hate my upper arms)!

Re: Girls who have used Burtons Gowns - Seamstress ?
Hi Denise - I was the one who's alterations came out bad but I also wanted to add that the hem on my sister's dress was crooked but that was discovered because they let her try her's on when she picked it up. I really think it will be okay to use them as long as the bride and BMs try the dresses on before they leave with them. Hope this helps

Hi Meg. You FM me right? I am sorry if I didn't respond to you.
I told my sister your story. So we will be VERY CAREFUL to check it all. But I told her that every place has its bad days, etc. They are only human and mistakes happen. As long as they fix what they do wrong. You know what I mean. So we will be sure to be on top of them every step of the way, and check EVERYTHING. Thanks for responding.
I got my dress at Bayshore Bridal Suite and even though I had a great experience, almost every time I was there, someone was complaining. You never know.
So once again, thanks for posting your experience with them and we will be very careful. We just got such a great price, we are going to cross our fingers and pray! :)
