Can you recommend a good shampoo / conditioner for color-treated blondes? My hair is getting SO brassy from the salt water, sun, and chlorine from the pool. I've been using Joico Violet to tone but it is making my hair very dry. TIA!

If you can get past the herbal smell (it was a bit strong for me at first), I recommend Aveda. I have been highlighting my hair for over 10 years and my hair was so dry but my stylist recommended it to me a few months ago and it has done wonders for both my color and the texture of my hair.
HTH!

Which ones do you use? My mom uses Aveda too and swears by it. Or should I go to the nearest Aveda salon and ask them?

Use ultra swim after you get out of the pool. My hair dresser also suggested using basic dish soap like palmolive.
It also helps to rinse your hair w/cold water before going in the pool, it'll lock in your color.

I use the Color Conserve. It honestly has worked wonders on my hair-FH even noticed, lol!

also before you go outside to swim, tan etc put conditioner on your hair...it will protect it from sun/chlorine.

I use the Bumble and Bumble color shampoos... they have different colors depending on what color blonde you are. I use the purple set and my hair doesnt change color with it

Sulfates are found in most shampoos and that's what fades color.... Purology is awesome but very $$. I just tried the new Loreal EverPure Sulfate-free system, and it works great! I dye my hair slightly darker than my natural and it would fade in like 3 weeks, my hair is still dark as ever 3 months later, and that's been with the sun and salt. And only $7!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Purology -- I swear it's like magic in a bottle -- but I have really thick, long hair and I would go through it so fast, even though I needed to use way less than other shampoos and conditioners because it's so concentrated.

Ooo I'll have to give it a sniff! I cannot use shampoos that don't smell good!
