Girls who knit, is there a present you would like?

I want to get my best friend something for her birthday and she recently began knitting scarves.
I have been looking online for ideas but can't find ANYTHING but yarn and that's too hard to pick out.

So anything you girls thought was cool but didnt want to spend money on or something???

Thanks!!!!!!

Yeah! The knitting loom is awesome! I was trying so hard to knit and hat and couldn't do it. With this loom it takes only like an hour to 'knit' a hat. This is the one have:
http://www.herrschners.com/products/product.aspx?sku=012101&tab=
It was cheaper at Michaels (like $14.99)
There are also other looms like a pom pom maker and Butterfly Looms, but I never tried those.
This is very easy, even a kid can do it. If she is just starting out making scarves this might be fun so she can easily make thr matching hats.

You could try a beginners books, like Knitting and Crocheting for Dummies. Stitch N'Bith is also really popular, or maybe a book of patterns?

You can get her a bunch of different needles (sizes) and some brands are more expensive than others (ie she might not get them for herself) there are also really nice knitting bags and needle holders to hold her knitting supplies

I was going to say this too... also needles come in all different materials... i started with plastic, then bought myself a pair of metal ones, and would love bamboo ones...

I have been knitting for a few years now. My favorite needles are the circular bamboo. My mother (a long time knitter) also gave me a canvass case that holds the needles. (It attachs to a hanger)

Also, the Knitter's Companion is a good reference manual. (It explains stitches, as well as different ways to make increases and decreases). It's also relatively compact so you can carry it in your knitting bag.

A tape measure.

Scissors.

Gift certificate to a yarn store. (Yarn gets expensive. It's always nice to have someone help support the habit.)

If you think that she might like to start making afghans, 'Quick Knitted Afghans' is a good book with some easy patterns. It's published by House of White Birches. The patterns feature Plymouth Yarns which are very easy to work with.

Happy shopping
