Girls who majored in psychology (with a masters)

what is your masters in? and how is the salary at your current employment..im looking to go back to school ASAP and am unsure what to go for..

i just grad with ma in school psych... i think it starts out at like 55

FH got is BA in psych and his MS in psych (then got his doctorate) But your can get your masters in psych and be a shool psychologist - good salary and your salary goes up every year, great time off

thats what i figured..only thing is i love working with people with mentall illness..so this would be a big change for me

thats what i figured..only thing is i love working with people with mentall illness..so this would be a big change for me


.. well you will get to councel students though a lot of what you do is testing etc...

but what about social work in school - they do all the counceling

I'm graduating next week with my MA in forensic psych, I don't recommend doing this, it's so hard finding a job right now. However, my school (john jay) just started a new MA mental health counseling program. When you're done you're eligible for a mental health counseling license, which is so important in psychology. thanks! im so stressed..i keep changing my mind..and i graduated with a b.s. in 2004 so i need to go back or I never will...I wanted to go for nursing..but im afraid it might be too challenging..and well the hours are awful as a nurse..thanks for your help jess!

social worker here!!!! from the NASW website (nat. org. or SW's) starting is 45K not great i kno i kno .. but it does increase once you start the experience... you can work anywhere with any population in any business.... really im NOT joking. you can still do mental health and you can do counceling or case managemennt.

i went to Fordham, but Hunter is great, Adelphi, New School, NYU, columbia... FM me if you ahve any questions or concerns...

currently im interviewing.. its NOT easy.. but its what i wanted to go to school for.

i have my BA in Psych, and child family studies.

Good Luck Kristin...I got my masters in SW 4 years ago not psych but I just wanted to tell you that anything that you do you will do well in.

Undergrad Psych...masters in school counseling...the pay is great (feel free to FM for details)....I work as a guidance counselor so the hrs and vacation are nice also! Good Luck!

I received my BA in Psychology but got my Masters in Social Work and my license...

Started (mid 30's) but make much more now as I run a program for teenagers....

Social Work gives a lot of options...I have worked in schools, non-porfit orgs and mental health clinics. I also teach in the psych dept. at Touro College in NYC....

FM if you need additional help.

kristin i have a BA in psych and decided to go for early childhood/special ed and getting also certified with a specialty in of annotated special needs--it means i can work with children who are severly disabled/ mentally mroe so than a normal teacher

i can also become an evaluator and do evaluations for children who parents want them to see if there is a need for services etc.

i know it is a little different than social work and becoming a psychologist. I just had no desire to work in a high school....and i was thinking of forensic psych at first---i loved that but i know it is a hard field and i love working with children

I graduated with a MA in forensic psychology, in all honestly, if you are going back to school go for a mental health counselling degree or SW degree. A MA in psych wont get you too far due to state licensing requirements. I happend to be grandfathered into my job at Rikers Island with the MA in forensic psych but I am now currently getting my PhD
