You'd prob have to contact your bank that your mortgage is through.
I know but someone told me you have to 're-close' which means more closing fee's so im wondering what other girls did
I plan on leaving it. It depends on the bank, so you should def call yours anyway. If you leave it as it is, when/if you go to sell your house, you'll be on all the paperwork for your current home as 'Mrs. ABC F.K.A. Ms. DEF' and Mrs on all the new house paperwork.
Ahh good question I didn't even think about that. I think I might just leave it
I never even thought about it...I figured I would just leave it alone. I own a co-op, so I'm not sure if it would be different.
i'm closing in like a week with my current last name- you just keep it like that, no need to change it
We just went to full contract on our house this tues, and brought this same issue up with our real estate attorney. He said it doesn't really matter if you don't change your surname right away, unless you plan to sell the house, then you would need to amend the deed or title. You can do that by showing them your birth certificate and marriage license, along with any other documentation that they might ask for. The fee to change the deed/title is about $500, so since you've just bought your house and aren't trying to flip/sell, theres really no need to change it. :)
You don't have to change it. As long as you have your birth certificate & marriage license when you sell, you're good.
i think you can do a corrected Deed
We plan to refinance eventually...that's when I'll change it.
