If you went to Aruba and didn't do all Inclusive, would you mind telling me how much spending money you went through and how many days you were there? I'm so worried that because we're not doing all inclusive we're going to spend a fortune. My best friend just got back from her honeymoon there and did do all inclusive and she still spent $2500. She was there for 10 nights which is how long we're going for. I'm thinking I'm going to need $5,000. Crap!!

Re: Girls who went to Aruba....
Aruba is a small island. 10 is definately overkill. We went from a Tue-mon and I was bored my last day.

if you're worried about spending money, then you should do all-inclusive. it alwasy works out cheaper. No taxi's for dinner, no drinks to pay for, etc.
I stayed at the Westin a few years back, it was all-inclusive and we really liked it. Aruba is not our favorite island, not much to do but it does have great beaches, just a bit on the boring side..I think 10 days is too much, we did 4 or 5.

Re: Girls who went to Aruba....
We already booked for 10 nights. We wanted a long honeymoon and Aruba was our only choice in October because of Hurricane Season. I'm not worried about being bored. I'd rather spend the time there relaxing on the beach then at home bored. We were advised by everyone who has gone to Aruba not to do all inclusive because of all the great restaurants. We're staying at the Hyatt which doesn't offer all inclusive anyway. That's why I was just curious about how much people have spent there that didn't do all inclusive.

I'm doing this too!
Don't worry about spending too too much - you'll have a lovely time if you cut out some of the expensive water activities, etc :) Bring what you CAN spend and you won't spend more. Good luck - HTH!

That's exactly what we did. We stayed at the RIU but then had lunch @ El Gaucho when we went downtown, dinner one nite @ El trattoria (by the lighthouse), Flying Fishbone (30 min cab ride). However we still had breakfast @ resort everyday and lunch most days and I think the last nite or 2 we had dinner on site.
Worth it totally.

Re: Girls who went to Aruba....
I stayed at the Hyatt for 12 days and I was NEVER bored. Infact we tried to stay longer.
Here are some tips:
Did you get breakfast included in your stay? We had it included so we wouldn't eat breakfast until 10:30-11:00 am. Since we ate a late breakfast we never really ate lunch.
If you didn't get breakfast included there are a Dunkin Donuts and little cafes everywhere were you can eat breakfast inexpensively.
As for dinners -- the restaurants weren't cheap but I don't think they were over the top expensive either -- depending on how much you drink. We were usually never more then a bottle of wine at dinner.
Across from the Hyatt there is a little shopping center type thing with a Pizza Place -- we ate there one night. So that was a really cheap dinner.
I don't remember exactly how much we spent -- we didn't keep count at all but we also gambled, shopped and just enjoyed ourselves.
If you want more info FM me.

El Gaucho was amazing. Flying Fishbone was good but it was more the atmosphere that made it what it was. It is a 20 minute cab ride -- that was the most expensive cab ride we took and it was about $20 each way.

Always aim for all inclusive other than that you WILL spend a fortune! your friend probably did extra stuff that made her spend 2500.

RIU is FABULOUS!!! I didn't lift a finger @ that place. By the pool, everytime I turned around, the staff is either picking something up, offering a drink or towel. The BEST. YOu can have unllimited buffet for breakfast/lunch depending on what your activites are that day. I think we only ate dinner @ the RIU on our last night.

Re: Girls who went to Aruba....
I TOTALLY RECOMMEND TO NOT DO ALL INCLUSIVE!!
The restaurants in aruba are absolutely amazing...we went for 7 days and i think we spent around $3500...we went out to dinner every night. The best restarant is la trattoria...its beautiful!
