Re: GIrls who Wrote their Own Vows

we have modified the traditional vows slightly...and we will have the officiant read so we repeat...

I Stephen, take you Jenna, to be my wife,
To have and to hold from this day forward,
To love you with all my heart,
To share with you all my soul,
To grow with you through all my days,
As long as we both shall live.

I modified the traditional vows and included more also.
I am glad we wrote our vows...such a special touch!

We wrote our own vows. They are a paragraph and then at the end we will be saying the few sentences of traditional vows.

We will deffinitely be reading off of a piece of paper...gonna be to nervous to memorize 3 lines, let alone a paragraph.

i don't think you'd need to be nervous about it really, because you're just going to give it to the officiant who will then read it aloud for you to repeat (at least that's how i've seen it done). If I were you, I'd try to keep it short and sweet. Like a paragraph. I was the MOH at my friend's wedding this past summer and they wrote their own - but they were SOOOOO long!!! Like a full page or two typed (each). I'm sure it was special for them, but the rest of us were really bored thru it. Especially because they were repeating it and so on

I think it's nice when people choose to write their own, just think of your guests too. Keep it at a reasonable length and have the officiant read it to you as you repeat, so you're not pulling out pieces of paper or nervous about memorizing. That's my advice.
