Girls with bands -- first dance on CD or played by the band?

Those of you who had a band for your wedding... Did the band play your first dance song, or did you have them play a CD?

We are dancing to 'At Last' by Etta James. We have a fantastic band, but I've never heard them sing that song... and I want to make sure our first dance sounds great. Should I go with the CD?

I once heard a band butcher that song -- however, the lead singer was awful, so every song sounded horrible.

I'm just curious what everyone else did.

We were back on forth on this as well, however we decided to have the band play our song because when would we ever have people singing that song just to us? Not to mention, we spent all that money on a band.

We are very happy with decsion to have the band sing our song for us on our wedding day, and them singing to us is on our video.

Is there any way you can ask them to play that song for you so you can hear them? Like do they have any upcoming events that you can go to and they can sing the song for you?

I guess if I were you and unsure on how they would sound, for your first song since it is important to you, I would play the CD.

Interesting that you bring this up. FH and I are dancing to 'Can't Help Falling in Love', but we absolutely love the version done by Andrea Bocelli so we toyed with the idea of asking the band to play the cd. In the end, we decided to have the band play it for a few reasons but we gave them the cd of the version we liked and ask them if they could follow that version... So hopefully it will be great!

It's true though, at that moment, that song was 'ours' not anyone else's.
