So my parents are divorced and its been bitter bitter bitter for years PLUS i have no other immediate family except my Grandmother.
what are you girls doing about seating at the ceremony? obviously i cant have one parent sit on the other with fh's family, that would be really rude, i think. my grandmother sitting next to him wouldnt be good either, she hates him.
i know im making this hard but i dont think i could have extended family sit next to him either because that would be rude too if they were all sitting in the front aisle and one of my parents was all the way at the end meanwhile i have my mothers cousins who i dont even know right at the beginning of the aisle next to my mother and grandmother. oh, there is no extended family on my fathers side.
what do i do? should they just sit like a seat apart and i could make 'reserved for' things so they know where to go (and if they want to change it then they could that day??)...or should i just let them figure it out when they get down the aisle, lol...i dont want there to be any problems!
oh one more thing, please dont say that maybe this could be an opportunity for them to reconcile, sorry but its not happening and thats it, just being honest and this is the facts, lol

Re: Girls with divorced parents..need some help
hmm thats tough. My parents are divorced but both are remarried and they all get along so they will be seated together.
do either of them have like close family friends that you could put them with?

I would talk to them and see how they would feel sitting next to eachother for the ceremony. I mean it is an hour tops. Maybe for theor daughter's wedding htey can suck it up and deal for the ceremony and never have to look at eachother again for the rest of the day.

I agree plus it isn't like they will be talking during the ceremony, they don't even have to look at eachother during the ceremony

my parents will be sitting next to eachother at the ceremony and for the reception each parent will have their own head table.
perhaps ask their opinions. hopefully they can suck it up for the day, after all, that day isnt going to be about them, its about you and they should recognize that

Girllll I'm dealing with the same drama! My parents are too divorced and both sides of the family HATE eachother! Not only that, my grandparents on my dads side and my grandparents on my moms side are NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS!!
My parents were next door neighbors growing up...weird I know
So anyway I'm having the same issue with seating. But I'm not even beginning to worry about it yet.
I would do the reserved idea and not sit them next to each other so you don't stress over it. I know how hard it can be with the family not getting along. Do WHATEVER it takes to make it stress free for everyone.

Same here. My parents know they will have to be civil. I've already told them that if they pi$$ me off, they're both going home.
ETA: I think however, etiquette says that if the parents are divorced the bride's mom sits in the first row, and father in the second.

My parents are separated probably without hope of reconciliation (it's only a matter of time before it's official). They are both walking me down the aisle and I'm assuming they will sit near each other in the church.
My cousin's parents are divorced and at his wedding in May, his parents sat either one pew behind each other or on opposite ends of the same pew - depends on how big the pews are you know? One behind the other is not a terrible thing and if FH's family knows and understands, no one will think twice about it.

are you close with both of them? i'd definitely have a talk with them and see how they feel about the situation. maybe one of them won't mind sitting at the end of the row.
i wish i could have both parents there. my mom said she'd leave if my dad showed up.

as a future StepMOther, I think my FH would suck it up for his girls (although we are all on civil terms and have already attended things for his kids).
I would talk to them. Just say how you feel. That for ONE day; no drama- for YOU.
I think the putting one parent on each side in front is good (with their new spouses if they have).

i agree this way you know how each feels and then take it from there, i may turn out easier than you think that way

My parents are the same way (actually it's not my mom it's my stepmom who is the biotch and makes things difficult for everyone when she complains and throws hissy fits over my dad being nice to my mom) but I am going to tell them that it's not my fault they can't get along so they need to suucck it up for 30 minutes and get along while their daughter gets married. I think I am going to sit my mom on the end with my dad in the second seat and stepmom in the third that way he is separating the two of them!
