When you saw your dress for the first time - did you freak out because it looked so yellow?
My dress came in last week, so I went to try it on before my fitting. I was so shocked at how yellow the ivory is! It's like a buttercream or a french vanilla, but in a room with white walls and filled with white veils, I felt so yellow!
(No, I never actually saw it in ivory before I ordered it, because the sample I saw was in white and I didn't get a swatch.)
I didn't really feel too bride-like - I wonder if it was because of the color, or because the dress was totally huge on me... It reminded me of old white wedding dresses that weren't preserved and have yellowed with age.
I see it again on the 24th (first fitting) so maybe it'll be better then....

Re: Girls with ivory dresses
i got an ivory wedding dress. when i tried it on in the store it was in the ivory color - the only color it comes in. i know exactly what you mean, that although it's really supposed to be subtle, it still looks a bit yellowish compared to a white dress.
honestly - i tried on white dresses and they just didn't look as great on me. all the ivory dresses i tried on looked fantastic with my skin color. so there was no question i was gonna get ivory, but only for that reason. b/c, like u said, the dress does look a little more 'yellowish', for lack of a better description, as compared to a regular white dress.
have u tried it on in the ivory? i say as long as it looks good on you and you feel good in it, then it doesn't matter.

I did as well (my sample was ivory) but once we were all dressed it was not even apparent that it was a yellow-ivory as opposed to a bone ivory. In some pics it even looks white.

I think it'll be fine. Keep in mind you will be the only one in a 'white' dress that day so there won't be the ivory/white comparison.

Thanks girls, you've eased my mind a little.
I guess I probably shouldn't have tried it on with a stark white sample veil - that probably made it so much worse!

Hmmm, I'll tell you the truth. My dress is ivory and it's off-white, but my FH's vest and tie are also 'ivory' and they are cream colored, almost yellow. I think ivory varies.

I actually had the opposite reaction. the sample that I tired on was in gold and when my dress came in ivory I couldn't believe how white and beautiful it looked!
ETA - take a look in my album, you will see the sample in gold and my dress in ivory - big difference!

my original wedding dress is ivory and i felt the same way that it looked really yellow...but when i took pictures of it...you couldn't even tell...it came out slightly darker than stark white...don't worry once the dress fits you better you'll look great!

You should have taken pics.. I felt the same way with my gown because I compared it to the white one that was right next to it. When I took pics of it , no one could guess it was ivory, lol

Don't worry, girls! With the lighting of the place, it may also make it appear more yellow than it is. That is also because you are comparing it to white dresses in the store. But when you wear it out of the store, no one will think it looks yellow.

OMG I am sure it did! My bridal shop kept messing up my order & kept sending me a diamond white veil. It was cathedral length & it made my dress look dingy Thank god they got me the right one the week before my wedding.

Next to my white slip my Ivory dress looked almost cream colored but when it was on next to my skin it looked much lighter. It actually looks white in all of my pictures. Did you try it on yet?
