My fiance wants this as our cake topper:

EDIT: It's going on a cake that is similar to the one below. Except we will only have 3 layers and there will be no flowers on the top.

I like both...
They are so different that it is hard to choose between...you need to decide which way you want to go...
The cake topper with the couple is more traditional, while the monogram is trendy and hip...
You may not want trendy and hip when you look at your pictures in 20 years (JMO)
Of the monograms I like the 2nd one best!!!

Actually, A coworker came up with a great idea so I think I have that issue resolved.

What about monogram on the top and caketopper on the table on the side of the cake? also where are the mono cake toppers from? Very nice.

I like the couple. I don't know why, but it seems like it states 'more' about you guys. And will look nice in a display case in your house.

I think you can do both - large monogram as the 'background' for the couple standing in the 'foreground' - all at the top of the cake.

That's what I have decided to do. I am going to get a small couple kissing and put it in the front of the monogram.
