thankfully we have a non published # (WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!) but on occasion I do get them
so this chick calls last night offering me a credit card. She was clearly reading from a script and wouldn’t take NO for an answer. So I finally just hung up the phone.

Re: Give Us Your Best Telemarketer Stories
Ohhh boy!
Not exactly telemarketing, but I had a wedding vendor call my apartment on the morning of my wedding wanting to know if I had XXX already booked.
I got a call from my bank, wanting me to take a telephone survey about the quality of service.
Me: Sure, I'll take the survey.
Caller: How do find that when you call XXX, that your problems resolved in a timely manner?
Me: I'd like to know how come, when I have a problem, you transfer me to a call center in India, but when YOU GUYS want something, you are sure to send me someone who speaks English?
Caller: Well, ma'am...uuuuuhhh
Me: I would also like to note that it is 9pm. that is too late for you to be calling. When is the latest time you are allowed to call?
Caller: 9pm, ma'am. You were going to be my last call for the evening.
Me: Well, you are going to be here for a while, then.
And then I listed EVERY single problem I have with my bank. Poor guy must have left at 9:45.

Re: Give Us Your Best Telemarketer Stories
I didn't take the calls directly, but my mom (also with a private number!!) would get calls repeatedly from home improvement companies.....they would go through their whole bit and not let her speak once, so as punishment for their rudeness, she wouldn't bother with hanging up on them or threatening them for continuing to calll...no...she let them finish and THEN she would say 'Oh, that sounds nice, but I live in a condo.'
Once I was out of work for about 6 months and some group with the local PBA called wanting me to donate money to a charity for the needy (not even for the police....but for the needy!!) and I kept telling the man, sorry, but no. He persisted, come on ma'am, surely you can spare $100, then 50, then 25 for the poor. So I eventually responded, 'I am not giving you any money. If anyone in this conversation needs money it's me, I've been out of work for 6 months and I have a baby, do you think you can do something for me???? Could you please donate $50 to my fund???' He was dumbfounded, apologized and hung up.

Re: Give Us Your Best Telemarketer Stories
My parents kept getting calls from a telemarking company that conducted surveys on people's fast food eating habits and preferences. I finally picked up when they called and participated in the survey - since I don't eat fast food, I answered every single question with 'not applicable', 'zero', 'never' etc.
At the end of the survey the telemarketer (who sounded fed up ) said, 'And for these results to count I just need to verify that you're 18 or older.' 'I'm 17. Does that mean that I just wasted 15 minutes for nothing?' He hung up.

Re: Give Us Your Best Telemarketer Stories
I had a Chimney company call me the other night reminding me that it was time for my annual cleaning. So I asked what company it was. She told me, then I said I just had it done. She asked when? I said yesterday! She said 'oh! Ok, then have a good night.
I do that with every call. I don't care what they are selling. I tell them that they were just there yesterday.
The tree company Chimney Company Mortgage companies Credit Cards..etc..
With the credit card companies I usually tell them I just filed for bankruptcy. That stops them cold!

Re: Give Us Your Best Telemarketer Stories
The only telemarketing calls i get are from those so called pba funds who give the pba about 1% of what they collect or something like that. Any time they call me I tell them, 'I would love to donate but I was fired from my job and nobody will hire me so I am broke. Then they say 'Surely you can spare $25.' I continue to tell them I cant afford it, I have a mortgage etc, they usually get very pissy and hang up without even saying goodbye!

Re: Give Us Your Best Telemarketer Stories
I was getting 4 calls a day starting at 9am (kinda early when you work until 4am) from my CC company. I ignored most of them, but after a couple of weeks of it I couldn't take it anymore and answered. They were offering some crap service that I couldn't care less about. I cut the person off and told him that they were not goning to sell me anything and that if this kind of calls did not stop immediately then I would cancell my account with them. Haven't heard from them since.
