Giving out favors?

How is everyone handing out their favors? Mine are a little too big to put on the tables and I just don't know the best way to hand them out.

Thanks!

Re: Giving out favors?

You can arrange them on a table at the entrance of the reception room, there will most probably be an employee of the hall at the door directing guests to take one as they leave the reception. If not, you can do something to the table to call attention to them, have them set up in a pyramid, or write a tasteful sign.

Re: Giving out favors?

Why don't you put them on the table with their placecards when they walk in?

Re: Giving out favors?

Hmmmm.... Well every guest SHOULD say good bye to the Bride & Groom at the end of the night... Why don't you just give them out at the end of the reception as they say good bye... I'm not really sure how else to handle that situation if they are too big to place on the tables. Or you can have your MC make an annoucement to be sure to take the bride & groom's gift of appreciation and place them on a table somewhere... maybe the reception hall can change the seating card table into a gift of appreciation table - well, something like that... hope that helps a little :o)

Re: Giving out favors?

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions!!! I will probably have someone from the hall give them out at the end of the night with a list checking off the guests names as they receive their favor.

Thanks,
Vivian

Re: Giving out favors?

Old Married Lady here! Just wanted to suggest to all of you that you be careful with just leaving the favors and telling people to take them because if there anything like the old Italians in my family, they'll take more then ONE!!!!!! I've seen it done at showers and weddings, so make sure somebody is in charge to oversee that one per couple is taken!!!

Good luck to all of you!

Re: Giving out favors?

I agree bearsbabe_113! That is how my family is and that is why I am having trouble coming up with a way of doing this. I definitely have to have someone hand them out (either myself or an employee at the reception hall).

Re: Giving out favors?

Sirev, that's what we did at ours -- we handed them out at the receiving line! I was able to keep track of them and knew that 2 of his cousins had left w/o getting their favors!

Re: Giving out favors?

I had the 4 truffle godive favor for each person that came to the wedding placed on each place setting. I heard from some of my family that they didn't even get to take it home because people were taking more than what they were suppose to.

Re: Giving out favors?

I went to a wedding in August and the couple gave out large favors. They had them beautifully wrapped in boxes which were stacked nicely behind the bride & groom's table. When you went to say goodbye at the end of the night, they gave you the favor. My guess is that guests that didn' t say goodnight weren't given a favor. Serves 'em right! hehe

Re: Giving out favors?

I also handed out a separate crystal favor at the end and said goodbye to everyone. I thought it was a mistake because I felt I was being pulled towards all directions.

Re: Giving out favors?

Our favors are very large & breakable also. I decided to have our hall deliver them to everyone at their tables right after the cake is served. My wedding is a day party, so I think everyone will stay-and if they don't stay to eat my cake then I guess they don't get a favor!

Re: Giving out favors?

I attached the seating card on the favor box for each person. They were displayed on a table in the cocktail hour. The maitre D` made sure everyone had theirs.

Re: Giving out favors?

I felt the favors would detract from the table setting, so we are using a favor table.
The favors will be placed out after the cocktail hour on their own special table.
The guest book will be moved to that table as well.
Im not going to worry if someone takes two, etc...it will all work out for the good of the order!

Re: Giving out favors?

for my shower, i left the favors out and people were supposed to take them as they left...well let me tell you, people were walking around with 2 favros each!!!! i had to order more the next day for my closest family and for those who sent gifts but werent there...

i definitely suggest handing them out as people say goodbye to you....i don't think anyone would leave a wedding without saying goodbye to the bride and groom, so thats the perfect time to thank them for coming and hand them their favor!!!!

Re: Giving out favors?

We put our favors on a table and somebody handed them out as they left. I do know of a few people that took two, but everybody I asked did get one. I never thought of having someone put them on the tables after the cake cutting though. I think that would of been a great idea.
