GIVING SHOWER GIFTS???

GIVING SHOWER GIFTS???

Ok... there is someone I know. For my showers she has been invited, has not come to any of them and has not sent anything.

I know I am getting invited to her shower (baby). When she got married I sent her a gift even though I did not go. And gave a wedding gift to which she said 'we're not robe people' and she gave them to someone else!!!! $175 robes!!!!

My question, do I say enough is enough... and not get her anything or do I dish out more $$ for someone who obviously likes to receive more than give??

PS this person is FAMILY!!!

ETA: We all went to a wedding of another family member recently and we gave a card with $$ but they didn't give a gift... NOT EVEN A CARD!!! But they had enough $$ and foresight to give their parents a grandparents day card!!!

I completely agree also. What comes around goes around.

Are you going to go to the baby shower? I say since it's family (which makes it that much harder!) give a card without a gift.

I agree, just a card is fair..

I cant go to the shower I already have a trip to Florida planned for that weekend. PLUS driving 6 hours for a baby shower with a baby of my own is not my idea of a good time

I say no nothin'!

She hasnt even made any effort for you even though you have been more than generous in the past. I would not give anything!

I think just giving a card could be alittle awkward. BUt JMO!

Her comment about he robes RUDE!!!!

Send a card...it shows your the bigger person, but it's no loss out of your pocket!

If it is a baby shower, I wuld buy the baby a gift and you can find things for $10!! Actually even less............if it is her wedding/bridal shower, I say just send a card - better than anything and at least you sent something - a card -

if they are family even though the mom doesn't deserve it, send a bond or a little something for the baby...

I totally agree - some people really need to learn. I know someone like that and that's what I'm doing the next time there is a reason (party, or something).
